Plas Madoc fought back from two-down to win Tuesday night’s Mike Beech Memorial Trophy thriller at Gronant.
Kallum Pierce gave the home side a 13th minute lead before Gary Fazackeley made it two after 23 following Aidan Bell missing from the spot.
Nicky Williams failed to take advantage of a penalty at the other end, but in first half added time Josh Hughes pulled one back for Plas.
Six minutes into the second half another penalty was awarded, this time to the visitors, and Craig Roberts made no mistake.
Sixteen-year-old wonder Ryan Jakovlevs’ 22nd goal of the season won it for Madoc in the 78th minute, Roberts with the assist.

Caerwys 1 Corwen 1 (Corwen won 4-2 on penalties)

Corwen beat Caerwys for a FIFTH time this season, but the latest battle was their closest yet, going all the way to penalties.
The teams first clashed on the opening day of the 2023-24 campaign, Corwen winning 3-1 at Lon-yr-Ysgol in the Welsh Cup.
Next it was the North East Wales League Premier Division on September 9, Corwen claiming a 2-0 home triumph.
The Premier Division return at Caerwys on October 16 finished 6-0 to Corwen, then it was onto the Mike Beech Trophy group stage, Jamie Hulse’s side edging a much closer 4-3 verdict on away territory.
Saturday’s fifth fixture between the sides in six months was in the NEWFA Horace Wynne Cup and turned out to be the tightest so far.
Scott Nelson’s absolute stunner from distance gave Caerwys a fourth-minute lead and the hosts were nearly there until seven minutes into stoppage time at the end of the 90, Tom Williams equalised.
So penalties it was and Corwen prevailed 4-2.

Benjamin Jones (2) and a Lee Jones penalty sent Town through, Luke Hughes responding for the hosts.
Greenfield 4 CPD Yr Wyddgrug 1
Lewis Williams (2), Ben Sim and Ryan Jones split the goals which secured Greenfield home success, Shaun Hughes with the visitors’ consolation.
CPD Gronant 3 Lex XI 2
Good win for Championship side Gronant over Premier Division opposition.
Dylan Taylor, Gary Fazackerley and Declan O’Connor all netted for the hosts, Kian Davies with both for the Law.
Holywell Town 2 FC Queen’s Park 5
Sean Price, Daniel Roberts, Michael Latham (2) and Tony Jones combined to deliver the win for the Park, Jordan Bedford and Kieran Durkin with the Holywell net-finders.
Mynydd Isa 3 Castell Alun Colts 1
Samuel Wainwright’s goal, plus added time strikes from Shaun Tinsley and Nicholas Manning won this one for Isa, Craig Worthington’s effort keeping Casty in the contest until the bitter end.
Penyffordd Lions 14 Johnstown 0
Double figures for in-form Penyffordd, Alister Randles (4), Edward Brown (3), Ben Hughes (2), Nath Lavender, Luke Peters, Ryan Ankers (2) and a Johnpaul MacDonald own goal making up the 14.
Rhostyllen 4 Rhydymwyn 0
Rhostyllen eased into the next round, Thomas Douglas (2), Kurt Isaac and William Roberts providing the scoresheet entries.

Premier Division

Coedpoeth United 3 Ruabon Rovers 2
Coedy’s resurgence continued, Levi Coleman, Kady Seabrook and Dion Lewis supplying their goals in a win over Ruabon, who hit back through Joshua Hughes and Gareth Partridge.
Championship Division

Aston Park Rangers 3 FC Plas Madoc 8
Eight on the road for new Championship leaders on goal difference Plas Madoc.
Joseph Doyle-Davies (2), Nicky Williams (2, 1 pen), Craig Roberts, James Williams, Josh Hughes and Levi Williams shared the riches, Karl Bacon, Kieran Green and Jonny Crossley replying for Rangers.
Overton Recreation 6 Brymbo 3
Harry Massey bagged four in Overton’s victory to boost his goals total for the season to 31 in all competitions.
Christopher Bush and Owen Platt also registered for the Rec, Bradley Reid (2) and Joshua Price helping the Steelmen give it a good go.
Skippy 3 Bellevue 6
With 15 defeats apiece, 0 draws and 0 wins between them this season, at least one of these teams had to be smiling come the final whistle on Saturday.
Turned out to be Bellevue, who claimed their first win in four seasons, club record scorer João Da Silva with a hat-trick, James Greenshields (2) and an own goal from Peter Jones making up the six.
David Hughes (2) and a Lewis Irvine own goal provided the responses for Skippy, who now slip to bottom spot.

Reserve Division

Corwen Reserves 3 Lex Reserves 4
What a game! Lex fought back from 3-0 down to win with a 90th minute decider.
Morgan Edwards’ first-half treble put Corwen in command at the break.
In the second half, the Law rallied, goals from Morgan Bagnall, Cameron Edwards, Alex Sheriff and George Baxter turning the tables completely.

Tremendous win for leaders Caerwys Reserves at the champions, Shane Wellings, Ruari Wood and David Booth with their goals.
