NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE – JANUARY 6

Premier Division

Trearddur Bay 2-2 CPD Mynydd Llandegai

Despite ending up with eight men Trearddur Bay were still able to maintain their unbeaten league record in the North Wales Coast West Premier.

However, resultant suspensions will leave Bay weakened for next weekend’s testing visit to leaders Gwalchmai.

Saturday’s game at Lon Isallt saw Trearddur in action for the first time in six weeks. It was a potential banana skin versus Mynydd Llandegai and proved to be just that.

However, Bay made a perfect start when Asa Thomas broke down the left and squared the ball for Les Davies to finish as early as the fifth minute.

The Beach Boys held onto the lead for just five minutes as Cameron Robertson equalised after the home team gave possession away in their own half.

In the 24th minute Bay were reduced to 10 men after a coming together of Tom Scott and a Mynydd player. It looked certain both would walk but only Scott received his marching orders.

The game became very stop-start and as half time came the score was still 1-1.

Some questionable tackling from both sides at the start of the second half led to three Bay yellow cards in five minutes.

Two were for Coby Doutch, who was dismissed in the 67th minute.

Nine-man Bay stepped it up and from a free kick the prolific Asa Thomas curled a brilliant goal into the far corner in the 74th minute for his 26th goal of the season.

Five minutes later Bay were awarded a free kick after a foul on Thomas. Both players fell to the floor and were holding onto each other. Yet another card was shown and to the home side’s amazement it was a second yellow for Thomas, who also had to walk.

It was now backs to the wall type defending for the eight men as they battled to hold onto the points.

That was until a break down the right led to Myles Jones appearing to be taken down in the box by keeper Ben Parker, but no penalty was given.

The brave eight held out at 2-1 until the 94th minute when Llandegai’s Alwyn Roberts smashed the ball in off the underside of the bar to equalise.

In the end it proved a point gained rather than two lost for the home side.

CPD Aberffraw 2-2 Amlwch Town

Cian Evans’ 84th minute equaliser salvaged a point for 10-man Amlwch.

Iolo Jones edged Aberffraw ahead from a ninth-minute penalty before Evans levelled it soon after.

Mason Finn netted in the 34th minute from a Jones assist to hand Berffro an interval lead.

Amlwch faced an uphill task when they had Corey Hughes sent off for a second yellow on 74, but the visitors fought hard and Evans’ second six minutes frrom time secured the draw.

CPD Nefyn United 3-1 CPD Pentraeth

Three goals in the last 15 minutes ensured Nefyn turned a losing situation into a winning one.

Pentraeth were in front at half time courtesy of an Ashley Davies goal.

The visitors suffered a blow six minutes into the second half when Connor O’Neill was shown a red card.

It remained 1-0 to the travellers until the 74th minute when Josh Piper made it one-apiece.

Nefyn now took the initiative against the 10-men and Elgan Pugh made it 2-1 after 82 before Dylan Sion Jones added a killer third on 86.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 1-1 CPD Talysarn Celts

All-square at Maes-y-Parc, with Gwion Davies putting hosts Penrhyndeudraeth into the lead on 45 minutes before Garem Jones equalised after 72.

Division One

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 2-0 Mountain Rangers

Sion Roberts and Tomos Williams delivered the goals which made it a winning start to 2024 for Blaenau.

CPD Cefni 0-1 Llanfairpwll

Owain Davies struck a minute into stoppage time at the end of the 90 to grab all three points for a jubilant Llanfairpwll.

Having lost at home to Cefni last month, it was sweet revenge for Gwyndaf Hughes’ side.

With the Isgraig pitch in Llangefni being unplayable, the match was switched to Nantporth Stadium in Bangor.

An evenly-contested first 90 minutes included a superb penalty save from home keeper John Glyn Roberts.

It looked to be heading for a 0-0 until Owain Davies’ floated cross eluded everyone and ended up in the net.

CPD Llanystumdwy 4-3 Holyhead Town

Player-manager Sion Parry bagged an 80th minute decider to settle a seven-goal thriller at Parc Dwyfor.

Veteran Kyle Williams handed Llan an eighth-minute lead, Callum Queen equalised on 23, but James Hughes soon made it 2-1 to the hosts before Queen converted a penalty to make it two-each at the break.

Harri Hughes nudged Holyhead in front for the first time 10 minutes into the second stanza, but sub Darren Parry levelled matters once again on 66 before fellow replacement Sion Parry delivered the winner just two minutes after coming on.
