Collapsed drain continues to disrupt football club fixtures schedule

A collapsed drain has caused real headaches for one of North Wales’ top football clubs.

Holywell Town’s recent home games have been postponed due to the unexpected problem under the playing surface of the Achieve More Training stadium.

Due to the issue, this Saturday’s game against Airbus has been switched to the Deeside Stadium, Connah’s Quay. Kick off 2 pm.

“We apologise for the switch but hope the Wellmen supporters can make it to cheer the lads on against the league leaders,” said a club spokesman.

The club has approached a grounds maintenance firm to carry out the repair, but as the weather has been poor, they have been unable to commence the work to dig out and repair the drain.

This week’s wet weather has caused further delays.
