Reserves football: Wayne Edwards hits hat-trick for Mountain, Llandudno U23 win at Maesdu


THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16

Llandudno Under-23’s 4 Ruthin Town Reserves 1
The night after Llandudno’s women celebrated the return of football to the OPS Wind Arena with a 7-2 victory, the men’s under-23’s played their part in the celebrations by whipping Ruthin 4-1 in the FAW Reserve League North Cup.
Levi Montgomery put Tudno in front on 19 minutes, Ciaran Williams with the assist.

It was 1-0 at half time, but six minutes into the second period, Luke Holmans brought Ruthin back on terms with a penalty.
Steffan Roberts soon nudged the hosts ahead again with 56 gone, then on 62 Frankie Arkwright made it 3-1.

Substitute Bryn Williams made sure of a Tudno triumph by adding a fourth goal in the 86th minute.

Flint Mountain Reserves 7 Gresford Athletic Reserves 0
Legendary veteran Wayne Edwards came on in the second half and delivered a dazzling hat-trick for the Mountain.
Former Greenfield and Holywell Town star Edwards, 39, proved he still retains plenty of the old magic with goals on 69, 83 and 90+1 minutes.
Also on target for the hosts were Taylor Edwards, James Dunseath and Dom McHugh, while Jordan Jackson conceded an own goal very late on.

Robbie Jones’ 69th minute strike was enough to secure the Wingmakers a place in the next round.

Dom McHugh struck twice as table-toppers Mountain swept aside the Bricky in a Monday night league encounter.
Mark Foster and Taylor Edwards added singles for the home team.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11

Denbigh Town Reserves 4 Buckley Town Reserves 1
Denbigh returned to winning ways in the FAW Reserve League North with a convincing win over Buckley.
A brace apiece from Rhys Lloyd and Andy Thomas saw off bottom side Bucks with a Will Weaver strike late on merely a consolation. The result sees Denbigh up to 4th, four points adrift of top spot.

Archie Jones (2) and Sam Jones delivered the goals which clinched Saints maximum points, Owen Bowden-Williams responding for hosts Conwy.

Substitute Tomos Williams pocketed a hat-trick in the last 25 minutes of a great win for Llangefni, Tyler Evans also on the mark.
Dion Gibbins (2, 1 pen) replied for the visitors.

Cai Kearney and sub Robat Jones both scored in the closing minutes to book three points for the Rwsters, for whom Ilan Davies missed a late penalty.
Nantlle Vale Reserves 4 Hawarden Rangers Reserves 4
Trailing 4-1 at half time, Nantlle Vale rallied to salvage a draw.
Tom Gunson (2), Louis Anglesea and Connor Parry all hit the net in the first half for Rangers, Cian Dafydd with Vale’s sole reply.
In the second half the tables turned, Rob Daniels, Daniel Bell and sub Osian Williams all on the scoresheet to ensure it ended four-apiece.
Gunson was red-carded for the visitors in the 11th minute of added time.
