Report: Y Felinheli
Felinheli made the trip to Oswestry to play TNS in the Welsh Cup with not much expectation but all the belief in the world!!
The Genero Adran North visitors deployed Jordanne Greenough in the heart of defence and Jenna Tugwell-Allsup leading the line.
With a solid base Felinheli started the game well, really organised and everyone sticking to their jobs.
But on the 20 minute mark an individual mistake led to TNS taking the lead through Danielle Staley.
Felin heads didn’t drop and were focused on the job at hand, TNS with the bulk of the possession and the underdogs keeping them at bay and counter attacking through Ffion Williams and Shannon Jones on the flanks.
On the 30 minute mark another away team mistake led to another goal, Emily Ridge the scorer. TNS were ruthless when the chances came.
Felin were doing their job and the scoreline didn’t reflect the competitive nature of the game with the pattern of TNS moving the ball well but the opposition keeping them out.
Right before half time keeper Catrin Beech handled outside the box and TNS made it 3 from the resulting Georgia Griffiths free kick at the edge of the area. The shot flew right in the middle of Beech’s goal into the roof of the net. Again, a Felinheli mistake being pounced on by TNS.
At the end of stoppage time in the first half TNS won a corner, Felin players not following their runners had Helen Evans nodding in the fourth.
Half-time: 4-0

The second half started with the same pattern as the first, but Felinheli cut out their mistakes, defending really well and creating chances the other end, Ffion Williams going close with her shot inches over the bar.
Greenough put in a superb performance at the back, the stand out player out of a squad that gave everything they had. The game finished 4-0 with Felin keeping a clean sheet in the second half.
Felinheli manager Aaron Jones-Evans: “I can’t take anything but positives from that performance today.
“If we would have cut out our mistakes we would have run a Welsh Premier team to the wire.
“Some superb performances from players playing in positions they don’t usually play in, and I only have praise for our substitutes bench who came on and performed brilliantly.
“Special shout out to Jordanne Greenough who put in a woman of the match performance, Catrin Beech again was superb, I could praise every player in our squad today, very positive and very happy with the performance.
“On TNS, we wish them all the best going forward in the Welsh Cup, it was a pleasure playing them today, classy club and they fully deserved the win. Good luck!”
