Cymru North leaders Holywell took advantage of their main rivals’ league inactivity to move three points clear at the summit with a two-goal success at Llanidloes.

The Wellmen remain unbeaten in 11 league matches since the start of the season after Saturday’s result at Victoria Park.

With only 5 minutes on the clock, Town took the lead through Jake Cooke, who rifled the ball home after a good pass by Gareth Evans.

Johnny Haseldin’s side had a number of chances in the first half to double their lead, but Luke Evans in the Llanidloes goal made save after save to keep his side in the game.

The second half was similar to the first with the Wellmen creating chances but unable to grab the deserved second goal.

With an hour on the clock, the home side were reduced to 10 men as Ryan Biggs was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

Ten minutes were left when Holywell netted a second from the penalty spot. Julian Williams was brought down in the area and Danny Sullivan fired the kick home to round off the victory.

Town have opened up a three-point lead on Airbus UK Broughton and Flint Town United, who were in Welsh Cup action.

The Wellmen return to the Achieve More Training Stadium next Saturday, November 18, where Guilsfield will be the visitors.

Please note that the kick off time is 12.30pm.
