A sixth straight league win for Rhyl 1879 gave them a four-point lead at the Ardal North West summit.
Last Saturday’s 2-0 triumph at Belle Vue for the Lilywhites was revenge for a 3-0 League Cup defeat at The Ring on September 9.
Prior to the match came the announcement that manager Gareth Thomas had secured the signature of experienced goalkeeper Ryan Woods from Caernarfon Town.
Thomas said: “Once we became aware of Ryan’s availability it was a no-brainer to bring him to the club. He’s another local lad who will increase competition in the squad.”
Saturday’s game saw James Cairns slot the ball home for the hosts in just the third minute.
The visitors controlled the middle stages of the first half, threatening in the final third on numerous occasions, but unable to find the leveller.
Rhyl finished the half with chances to extend their lead, but it was not to be.
Opportunities were far and far between in the second half, before from the 70-minute mark, Llay turned up the heat, but home keeper Sam Thomas made two fantastic saves within a minute.
Thomas later crucially produced a great stop with his feet to deny the visitors.
Finally, with 85 minutes played, Rhyl sealed it.
Macauley Taylor latched on to a long ball chased closely by visiting captain and central defender Max Peate.
Following contact between the two players in the box the referee pointed to the spot.
Experienced forward Mark Roberts slotted home to clinch the points.
