North Wales Women’s Football League – wins for Amlwch and Northop Hall

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE WEST

Llanystumdwy 0 Amlwch Town 2
Emma Roberts struck twice in a hard-earned but well-deserved win for Amlwch at Parc Dwyfor on Sunday.
With Amlwch missing five first team regulars for the long trip to Eifionydd, it was always going to be a tight match and this proved to be the case.
However, the Anglesey club’s squad players stepped up to the plate and performed well.
Amlwch dominated first half proceedings and Ellie Jones was unlucky not to finish off a couple of good moves with shots flashing over and just the wrong side of the post.

The second half was the same and that important first goal seemed elusive until around 50 minutes when Emma Roberts, who had been pushed forward into midfield, burst through the centre of the home team’s defence and finished well in the corner away from the advancing goal-keeper.
Within 5 minutes, Amlwch were awarded a penalty.
After the misses during the shoot-out in last week’s cup loss to Airbus, Emma Roberts was chosen to take the kick and finished calmly into the right-hand corner
Amlwch pressed for a third and came close on a number of occasions but the score finished 2-0.

Northop Hall 3 Berriew 1

Three good points for Northop Hall lifted them up to second in North Wales Women’s League East.
A competitive first half at Rowley’s Drive brought just the one goal, Ellen Sharps scoring for the hosts on 35 minutes.
From a corner by Hannah Williams, the ball was won in the box by Brygida Gorecka, who passed for Sharps to slot in.
Striker Sharps lived up to her name again two minutes into the second half when she displayed a cutting edge with her finishing to double the home lead with a header.
An unfortunate Daisy Allen own goal brought Berriew back into it on 52 and it was now anyone’s contest.
However, Northop Hall clinched the points when on 72 Allen scored in the right goal this time from a free kick to make it 3-1.
Gorecka hit the woodwork a couple of times and was desperately unlucky not to make the scoresheet.
