NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE REPORTS – OCTOBER 7

Premier Division

Rhuddlan Town 1 Kinmel Bay 3

Although Kinmel Bay recorded a third win in a row they needed three late goals to finally overcome the spirited challenge of battling Rhuddlan at Penwgern College.

Indeed after the game, the Bay management said their hosts were unlucky to end up with nothing and stressed that they themselves had ‘got out of jail’.

Struggling at the bottom of the Premier and often having to cope with squad shortages due to injuries and player unavailability, Rhuddlan were forced to play regular outfielder and goal-scorer Andy Booker as an emergency keeper.

The hosts gave it everything and took a deserved 14th minute lead through Isaac Hall.

Town held the advantage till half time but before the break lost the services of Booker through injury.

The Rhuddlan goalkeeper clashed heads with Bay’s Leon Bower. Booker came off the field and Bower was substituted in the second half. Both players are wished a speedy recovery.

The second half intensified the competition with Kinmel Bay a goal down and much of the action took place around the Rhuddlan goal area with substitute keeper Ewan Hughes under increasing pressure.

However, it was not until the 83rd minute that Nyal Hughes, assisted by Paddy Hamid, drove a strike into the Rhuddlan net.

More close action around the Rhuddlan penalty area then saw Connor Morris score twice in the 88th and 90+2 minutes, assisted by Hamid and Tate Walker respectively.

It had been an heroic effort from Rhuddlan and they deserved better.

CPD Llansannan 3 Abergele 1

Substitutes made all the difference for a Llansannan side which recovered from a goal down to win the match with a pair of late strikes.

Abergele enjoyed the ideal start when Dom Holland converted a first-minute penalty to edge the next-to-bottom side in front.

It stayed 1-0 until just before the hour, when sub Gruffudd Roberts equalised.

Time was running out when another replacement, Leon Gierke, made it 2-1 to the hosts, assisted by Gruffudd Roberts, who then added his second and Llansannan’s third in the 93rd minute.

Division One

Bow FC 5 Rhos United 2

Seven wins out of seven for the mighty leaders, whose goals tally rose to a prolific 46.

Saturday’s game had to take place at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, due to pitch unavailability.

Rhos started well and had a goal ruled out before Bow grabbed a 14th minute lead.

A poor goal-kick was intercepted by Loui O’Carroll, who skipped past two players before unleashing a fantastic strike from outside the box which nestled in the top corner.

Youngster O’Carroll struck another beauty into the net in the 35th minute after receiving a pass from Rob Parry.

Before the interval, an Aaron Boyle corner was unfortunately thrown into his own net by visiting keeper Matthew Russell.

Half time Bow 3-0 Rhos

Early in the second half, Bow substitute Greg Hall pounced to score from a rebound after Russell was foiled by an awkward bounce from a Boyle long range effort.

Rhos stepped up a gear with Chris King scoring twice to give them hope.

However, in the 88th minute Hall notched his second to complete the scoring.

Parry failed with a cheeky Panenka penalty attempt before the end.

Llandudno Amateurs 7 Penrhyn Bay 1

Super seven from the Amateurs with Morgan Davies and Mike Chapman both scoring twice for the second-place team.

Azz Rogers, captain Joe Jones and a wonder strike from McKenzie Slaven provided the rest of the goals for the hosts, Jay Sutton replying.

Llysfaen 2 CPD Henllan 1

Substitute Chris Darbey supplied an 85th minute decider for Llysfaen at the Bananabeu.

Harry Payne had handed Henllan a fourth-minute lead before Dan Batey levelled after 45.

Llysfaen finished with 10 men after Tom Collier received a second yellow card in the 88th minute.

Prestatyn Wanderers 3 Glan Conwy 7

David Hansom cemented Glan’s victory with a three-minute hat-trick between the 74th and 77th at Rhyl Leisure Centre’s outdoor pitch.

Hansom boosted his goals tally for the season to 11 with his second treble of the campaign.

Nathan Watson and Josh Lycett put the visitors two in front before Steven Taylor added an own goal for Glan in first half added time.

Dion Lloyd made it 4-0 on 50 minutes, but Wanderers fought back with a Callum Foster hat-trick between 52 and 67, one a penalty.

Hansom’s rapid three-goal burst ended up proving very handy in clinching an away victory.
