NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE WEST DIVISION – OCTOBER 1, 2023

Llangefni Town 7 (J Jones 3, Cox 3, C George)
Trearddur Bay 0

Report: Llangefni Town

Hat-tricks from Jen Cox and Jess Jones guided Llangefni to a seven-goal triumph which strengthened their lead at the North Wales Women’s West League summit.

The game started slowly with Cefni struggling to break through a stubborn Bay defence, keeper Gemma Lancaster doing well to collect plenty of balls through to the pacey Cox.

It took the hosts 34 minutes to break through when usual suspect Jess Jones struck home a Marissa George corner from the edge of the area.

It took just 5 minutes more for Jones to find her second when a shot from distance dipped at the last minute to beat Lancaster and make it 2-0 at half time.

Then came a second quick hat-trick of the season when Cox fired 3 in 6 minutes. Jess Jones turned provider to play Cox through who finished wonderfully with her left foot.

Jones then dug a fantastic cross out from the right wing and up rose Cox to smash another unreal headed goal to rival the one she recently scored against Caernarfon.

Cox then ran through to score her hat-trick in a repeat of her first goal and show she can push team-mate Jess Jones in the race for the Golden Boot.

Then came Jones turn to complete her personal treble when she smashed in a free kick from the edge of the area to make it 6-0 to the hosts.

Then, to cap off a top performance in midfield alongside Nia Ginnelly, Catrin George skipped past midfielder Hannah Smith and struck from distance to make it 7-0 to Llangefni.
