North Wales Coast East – thrills in REM Jones and Cookson Cups, Bellis hits seven for Y Glannau

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – REPORTS SEPTEMBER 9
COOKSON CUP ROUND ONE
Abergele 0 NFA 5
Antonio Jacovelli made it 11 goals in nine games for NFA with a double in Saturday’s 5-0 Cookson Cup triumph at Abergele.
Owen Jones, Dylan Cunnah and a Chris Davies own goal made up the nap-hand for the visitors.
Cerrigydrudion 3 Mochdre Sports 2
Tomos Jones’ 82nd minute goal – his second of the tie – proved the winner for Cerrig against an in-form Mochdre.
Tirion Griffiths put the home side ahead after two minutes, Scott Brown equalised on eight, but Tomos Jones made it 2-1 with 19 on the clock and that is how it stayed until half time.
Steve Falvey brought Mochdre back on terms in the 67th minute, but Jones bagged that late decider.
Llandyrnog United 1 Bro Cernyw 2
Carwyn McFadden and Will Hughes grabbed the goals which delivered a positive result for Cernyw, Dan Maclean’s reply a minute over the 90 providing mere consolation for Dyrny.
Penmaenmawr Phoenix 2 Llandudno Junction 4
Good away win for Junction secured through a Dani McIlvogue own goal, plus net-finders from Dave Maddock, Mathew Jones and Robert Gore.
Lee Stokes and Jamie Jones kept Phoenix in touch.
Rhuddlan Town 3 Llansannan 4
Luke Appleby’s hat-trick and an Adam Gage single were enough to edge Llansannan into the next round.
Andy Booker (2, 1 pen) and Ellis Trubshaw ran Rhuddlan close in a seven-goal cracker.
REM JONES CUP ROUND ONE
Glan Conwy 2 Penrhyn Bay 0
David Hansom’s double decided this cup tie in Glan Conwy’s favour.
Hansom scored on 52 and 70 minutes. Despite having Cai Kearney red-carded on 71 minutes, Glan’s lead remained untouched.
Henllan 2 Rhyl Dragons 0

Ashley Andrews (42 minutes) and Alex Thomas (53) supplied the goals which secured Henllan victory at Top Park.
Llysfaen 1 Rhyl All Stars 0
Steven Collins’ 39th minute strike was sufficient to seal Llysfaen’s passage into the next round.
Prestatyn Wanderers 1 Llandudno Amateurs 2
Mark Kelly and Robin Roberts both found the target but the Amateurs made difficult work of getting through Saturday’s tie at Rhyl Leisure Centre.
Jonny Mee had equalised for Wanderers on the half-hour after Kelly struck first for the visitors with 13 gone.
Roberts notched the winner on 82 before Amateurs manager Rhys Lane was shown a red card.
Rhos United 0 Bow FC 4
Rob Parry again proved his immense worth to new club Bow with a pair of goals in his team’s cup success at Brookfield Drive.
Parry found the net on 37 and 86 minutes for the visitors, with Greg Hall (33) and sub Liam Sykes (87) also on the mark.
PREMIER DIVISION
Meliden 1 Kinmel Bay 0
In what was already the fourth meeting between these teams this season, Meliden made it three wins out of four against their local rivals to pick up three league points.
Kai Wallis scored the only goal of Saturday’s battle at The Mine courtesy of a seventh-minute spot kick.
Joe Roberts was shown a red card for the home side with 90 minutes gone.
DIVISION ONE
CPD Y Glannau 12 Betws-y-Coed 1
Seven goals from the machine that is Harrison Bellis was the main feature of a record win for Y Glannau.
Joey Fontana weighed in with a hat-trick, while there was a goal apiece for Richard Peskett and Jared Hughes.
Special mention to Sam Owens, who has been excellent since stepping up to the first team, and provided two assists against Betws.
Harrison Bellis scored seven in a game for the second time in a Glannau shirt, also having achieved the feat against Henllan last season.
The 21-year-old has now scored 91 goals in 49 appearances for Y Glannau since joining the club in October 2021.
Luke Roberts scooped a consolation for Betws.
