Report from Llangefni Town
Llangefni travelled to Llanystumdwy on Sunday to face a home side high on confidence after a midweek giant-killing of Tier 2 NFA.
With Jessica Marshall returning in goal and new signing from CPDM Bangor Lucy Richardson watching on, Cefni made the perfect start…….
14:00 Jess Jones fired Llangefni ahead with a terrific strike from distance after a smart assist from Hannah Owen.
14:01 Almost a copy of the first goal. Jess Jones again with a great strike
14:02 Jess Jones again blasted in a rebound following a smart save from Sara Lacey.
Quickest hat-trick in Llangefni Town history and with Cefni player, Anglesey goalscoring legend and uncle Marc ‘Logs’ Evans in attendance, Jess Jones showed goals run in the blood.
Llanystumdwy rallied when skipper Tash Matthews played a ball over the top to the dangerous Nia Jones who slotted away to make it 3-1. Llangefni added a fourth before half time.
After completing 90 minutes against Llandudno midweek Beth Jones came on to gain more game time for the recently returned to football new signing.
Second half started even with Llanystumdwy determined. On the 60th minute Jess Jones recorded her fourth and final goal after being played in by the excellent Catrin George .
Jones then gave way for Lara Cain to come on and stretch the game with her pace down the left.
On came the reliable Sharlee Owen, who tightened things up lovely in the middle of the park and ensured Llangefni never let up on aggression and pressing.
Then 17 year old Cadi Rees slotted into left back and did a sterling job to see the game out.

Report from CPD Llanystumdwy
Jess Jones got Llangefni off to a flyer with a hat-trick inside the first 5 minutes.
The first came from the left hand side, when ‘stumdwy only managed to half clear and Jones picked up the ball 25 yards out, before drilling a shot over Sara Lacey’s head and into the far corner.
Only a minute later and almost an instant replay of the first goal, Hannah Owen on Llangefni’s left cut the ball back to Jones, who from an identical distance hit another drilled effort into the top corner giving Lacey no chance.
And within 5 minutes Jones completed her hat-trick, netting from a rebound after her first effort was saved.
Llanystumdwy took until now to get settled, and their first attack of the game saw Nia Jones control well, but the Llangefni defence recovered to clear the ball out for a corner.
Then on 9 minutes a Tash Matthews ball put Jones through. After some confusion in the away defence Jones managed to turn the ball home to give the hosts something to build on. 1-3
The next 10 minutes saw Llanystumdwy get into the game a bit more, although unable to create any clear chances.
Llangefni added a fourth before half time.
The second half was much quieter, but followed a similar pattern to the first, Llangefni having much of the ball and the game being played in Llanystumdwy’s half.
On the hour, Jess Jones scored her fourth of the game, with an effort that matched her first two. Catrin George played the ball to Jones, who beat her player and from the edge of the box hit another effort into the top corner.
Llanystumdwy’s manager Sion Parry said: “We just couldn’t get into the game, Nia was isolated up top and worked hard to cause a couple of problems but apart from that we just didn’t get forward enough. We tried for the whole 90 minutes but there was clearly some tired legs after the week we’ve had.
“Going 3-0 down in the first 5 minutes is a difficult task in any circumstances, but this Llangefni side will have hopes of challenging for the league, and the effort our girls put in on Wednesday night for the whole 90 minutes to get through to the semi final, those things combined made it even harder to get back into the game.
“We did get better, we did pull a goal back, but we’re disappointed we weren’t able to build on that.
“But its not just about us, Llangefni are a strong side and as much as we’re disappointed in our performance, it was also them not allowing us to settle and not allowing us to get into the game.
“For us, we move on to this week and make sure we learn from it and improve.”
