NORTH WALES COAST LEAGUE EAST REPORTS – SEPTEMBER 2

Division One

CPD Caer Clwyd 3 Prestatyn Wanderers 2

The Plums continue to ripen as Caer Clwyd maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

A hard fought battle saw the home side take all three points and make it four without defeat.

Clwyd started off playing decent football and created a few chances, but Wanderers keeper Haydn Horsfield pulled off some good saves to keep it at 0-0.

The hosts eventually scored when a poor goal-kick fell to Tom Wynne, whose shot from 35 yards out found the back of the net.

This lead only lasted a minute as some naive play from Clwyd allowed Wanderers striker Callum Foster in to equalise.

The game was scrappy until half time where both teams went in level.

For the second half Clwyd came out firing, playing some nice football in Wanderers’ half and on 52 minutes Wynne found himself cutting inside and bending the ball into the far corner for his second of the game.

Clwyd pressed hard for another and some fine play in and around the box led to Owain Jones firing a low ball across goal, finding Cian Breeze-Jones to tap home for 3-1.

Wanderers hit back three minutes later through Luke Williams from a corner to make it 3-2 with half an hour to go.

A couple of changes and a switch of formation meant Clwyd nullified the Wanderers attack and looked dangerous on the counter, but there were no further goals.

CPD Henllan 1 CPD Y Glannau 4

Michael Bellis had a great game for Y Glannau – scoring one and having two disallowed

After a pair of uncharacteristic heavy defeats – although the opposition was very strong on both occasions – Y Glannau returned to winning ways at Top Park.

Henllan keeper Stephen Robinson made a few early fine saves and can consider himself very unlucky when he denied Chris Bower at the back post with a fantastic stop, only for Harrison Bellis to follow in for the rebound and get brought down for a clear penalty.

Harrison Bellis stepped up and calmly placed the spot-kick home.

Y Glannau switched off and Henllan levelled three minutes later with a fine effort from winger Harry Payne.

Michael Bellis thought he had made it 2-1 to the visitors, but the referee ruled there had been a foul in the build-up.

Soon after Glannau did restore their lead after some good wing play from Michael Bellis, who played the ball down the line for his twin Harrison who cut in, rounded the keeper and tapped into an empty net.

Harrison Bellis and Bower both hit the bar before on the half-hour, Harrison Bellis repaid the earlier favour by playing the ball to Michael Bellis, who ran through and finished well after having time to get it on to his left foot.

Bower rattled the bar again, but moments before the break, fantastic hold up play from Harrison Bellis then saw him lay-off to Joey Fontana, who finished very well from a slight angle.

No further goals in the second half, although Michael Bellis was unlucky to have one ruled out for offside..

Rhos United 2 Glan Conwy 4

Substitute David Hansom was a second half, six-minute hat-trick hero for 10-man Glan Conwy at Brookfield Drive.

Hansom struck on 75, 78 and 81 minutes, while another sub, Thomas Williams had netted Glan’s first after 65.

The first half was goalless, Chris King and Alex Stones on the mark for Rhos after 70 and 80 minutes respectively.

Before any goals were scored, Glan’s Bobby McElrea was sent off on the hour for a second yellow.

Rhyl All Stars 3 Betws-y-Coed 3

All Stars could not quite deliver manager Robert Cunnah three points on his birthday, but a draw was better than nothing for the Rhyl side on the back of two heavy defeats.

The hosts did find themselves 3-1 down at one stage, so a share of the honours represents a decent day for Cunnah’s men.

Luke Snape handed Betws a second-minute lead, but Sam Lloyd made it 1-1 after 20.

Into the second half, Elliot Llewellyn put the visitors 2-1 up on 47 before Owen Ward added a third for the villagers after 55.

All Stars rallied with a Thomas Bamber spot-kick on 62, Bamber then made it 3-3 on 68.

Betws had Luke Roberts red-carded late on, the visitors also having one of their coaches ordered from the dugout in the first half.
