What could end up the biggest win of the season in North Wales football occurred at the War Memorial Park on Saturday.

Corwen of the tier 4 North East Wales Premier Division whipped Wrexham side Skippy from the level below Championship Division 21-0.

The opening goal came in the 10th minute, when a corner was whipped into the Skippy box. At the far post Leslie Brophy headed the ball back towards where it came from and it went in at the opposite stick.

Corwen were two goals to the good in the 19th minute, when Tom Williams collected the ball, ran forward and curled beyond goalkeeper Stephen Jones.

It was 3-0 when Owen Cordiner found some space in the penalty area and netted with a fine finish.

Just after the half-hour mark Scott Evans saw his shot rebound into the path of Cordiner, who made no mistake.

A minute later the visitors lost the ball, Tom Williams found yards of space in the penalty area and slotted in his second.

After this the floodgates really opened, as Corwen added five goals in 10 minutes, with Williams and Cordiner completing their hat-tricks, Alex Webster getting a couple and Scott Evans finding the back of the net.

Half-time: 10-0

Corwen did not let up, making it 11 when a counter-attack resulted in a Henry Evans goal.

In the 55th minute, Scott Evans found substitute Benjamin-Wilson Davies, who placed the ball into the far corner with his first touch.

It was a baker’s dozen for Corwen when Tom Williams registered his fourth of the day.

Webster completed his hat-trick before Williams played in sub Isaac Rasell-Edwards, who found Corwen’s 15th goal with a brilliant finish.
Scott Evans placed the ball home from the edge of the box before Tom Williams grabbed his fifth.

On 74 minutes, Stephen Jones was able to pull off a save, but saw the ball rebound fall into the path of Williams, who completed his double hat-trick.

Substitute Mathew Williams converted a penalty before in the 88th minute Rasell-Edwards fired home to make it 20-0.

From the kick off an eagle eyed Bobby Gregory spotted Corwen keeper Evan Parry off his line and launched a shot at goal from the centre circle, causing the custodian to scramble back and make a save.

From the resulting corner Corwen hit Skippy on the counter attack and the move came to fruition when Scott Evans became the fourth member of the hat-trick club, as his shot curled in via the post.
