Wednesday reports – part 2: Lex edge cup classic, Rhos Aelwyd grab late winner at Albion

Lex went through on spot-kicks after the game itself ended up a 12-goal barnstormer.

Aidan Bell (2 pens), Gary Fazackerley, Dan Price, Luke Elden and Steve Kirk provided the six goals for Gronant in the main match.

Lex replied through Liam Sklenar (2), Kian Davies, Alan Huxley, James Rogers and Ricky Evans (pen).

The game was end-to-end but at the end of 90 minutes the rivals could not be separated, so pens were needed and the Lawmen squeezed through.

Rhydymwyn 0 FC Queen’s Park 3

Chad Humphreys, Dan Parry and Tony Jones delivered the goals which put the Park through to the next round.

Humphreys netted on 17 minutes and there were no further goals until the final 10, when the North East Wales League Premier Division champions struck twice to finally kill off the brave challenge of the Championship Division hosts.

Ben Davies notched a hat-trick as Bow Street made it back-to-back wins at the start of the new league season.

Rhys Hughes was also on the mark for Bow, who led 1-0 at half time.

Builth Wells 2 Radnor Valley 1

Joe Price handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead, but goals on 70 and 75 from Adam Farmer and Tommy Rowlands respectively, turned the tables in Builth’s favour.

Cefn Albion 1 Rhos Aelwyd 2

Evan Woodall proved his worth again for new club Rhos with a 90th minute winner in a dramatic derby at Clywedog Park.

The first half featured two spectacular goals, Dylan Thomas for Aelwyd and Jordon Williams for the hosts, the times 29 and 37 minutes respectively.

It looked like a draw was on the cards until Woodall delivered a last-gasp decider to send Rhos home cock-a-hoop.

A bad evening for Cefn was made worse when Alex Williams was forced off with a nasty injury. The goal-getter required hospital treatment and it was later confirmed he sustained a dislocated shoulder, which is now back in place,

Llandrindod Wells 0 Penrhyncoch 0

No goals at The Broadway, so the points were shared.

Penycae 2 Llangollen Town 3

Hat-trick star Ben Wilson inspired Llangollen to a great victory at The Riverside.

Wilson found the net on 5, 12 and 82 minutes, the third goal proving the winner after Penycae had recovered from two-down to level with net-finders from Zac Davies and Thomas Edwards.

Welshpool Town 0 Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 6

Will Morris struck four times in a ruthless display from Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant at Maesydre.

Tomos Evans and Joe Vaughan added one apiece for the visitors on a night to forget for Welshpool.
