All hail the Hall – champions of the North Wales Women’s Cricket League East in a canter

Meet the East champions – Northop Hall

Congratulations Northop Hall – inaugural champions of the North Wales Women’s Cricket League East.

The Flintshire femmes have won the title in a canter, losing just one of their 10 matches and now advance to meet the West table-toppers in the regional final.

Northop Hall clinched top spot by the proverbial mile after winning three matches in four days.

Last Thursday, they defeated Buckley, then followed up on Sunday with victories against Carmel and Gwersyllt Park.

Northop Hall won by 57 runs

Put into bat, Hall amassed 125-1 off their 16 allotted overs, Emma Jones scoring 17, captain Stephanie Noonan 16, Sara Williams 14, Rebecca Hicks 13, Claire Gibbons 11, Sarah Edwards and Sarah Armstrong 10 apiece.

Buckley were then limited to 83-4, skipper Debbie McManus 14 and Sarah Sprowell 10, Noonan, Edwards and Hicks claiming a wicket apiece for the Hall.

Gwersyllt Park (2) 55-3 (16) – Net score 240
Northop Hall won by 102 runs

The Hall invited Gwersyllt Park to bat and kept them down to 55-3, captain Bethan Jones top scoring with 11, Stephanie Noonan taking 2-10 and Sara Williams 1-11 for the opposition.

Skipper Noonan then hit a mighty 41 as Northop Hall responded with 147-1, Hollie Sigsworth adding 29, Rebecca Hicks 14, Hester Evans-Ford 12 and Sarah Edwards 10, Bethan Jones scooping 1-18 for the opposition.

Carmel and District (3) 81-3 – Net score 266
Northop Hall won by 55 runs

Carmel won the toss and opted to bat, setting a total of 81-3 with regular star player Hâf Morgan-Read scoring 16 (once out – net score 11).

Hollie Sigsworth bowled well for the Hall, snapping up 3-13.

The champions-to-be secured another win by chalking up 126-1 to seal a 55-run success.

Noonan completed an amazing day by scoring 39 off 17 balls, Hollie Sigsworth next highest with 13, with Tracey Noakes the only Carmel bowler to collect a wicket.
