Flint Mountain reintroduce a reserve team after nine-year absence

Tier 3 Ardal North West club Flint Mountain will have a reserve team for the 2023/24 season
After a nine-year absence, Mountain has reformed a second team and will run two sides for the upcoming campaign.
As the club continues to grow, it feels a return for the reserves is an essential step as it looks to nurture young, local players and help get them ready for the first team.
Flint Mountain Reserves will be managed by Paul Dowridge and assisted by Jay Gilmartin.
Dowridge brings many seasons of playing experience from local sides including Buckley Town, FC Nomads, Cefn Druids and Connah’s Quay Nomads.
Between 2002-10, he played as a defender in the Welsh Premier with NEWI Cefn Druids, Airbus UK, Technogroup Welshpool and gap Connah’s Quay.
Gilmartin joins the club following a short stint assisting at Brymbo last season and will also help Aden Shannon, Jonny Hill, Joe Cossins and Mike Hayes with the first team.
Shannon had this to say on the new appointments: “Paul Dowridge joins the club as reserve team manager which is an excellent appointment for the club. He’s played Welsh Premier, comes with great experience, and is really looking forward to helping us progress the young lads into the first team. Going forward as a club, it is what we need.
“Jay Gilmartin is a fantastic addition to the staff. He is an excellent coach and will bring some fresh ideas for both teams. I really look forward to working with him.”
Further announcements on the new reserve team will be made in due course.
