Flint’s football women are looking sharp in pre-season

Flint Town United 3 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2
Elliott Hale’s Flint side delivered themselves a real pre-season boost with a 3-2 win over tier 2 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in Thursday night’s friendly at the Essity Stadium.
In an intense contest all the way through, the Silkwomen started on the front foot, applying pressure and forcing errors across the visiting back line, leading to a goal from Jennifer Haynes.
Shortly afterwards, the hosts moved the ball well and created another fantastic opportunity which Zoe Stopford took for 2-0.
Part of manager Hale’s team talk was about making chances count and they certainly did that on the evening.
Ten minutes before half time, Rhyl caught the home team out, Sade Benjamin halving the deficit.
Flint were unsettled at the start of the second half by an increased Rhyl effort.
Decision-making cost the hosts, the Lilywhites striking on the break through Becca Bannister to make it two-apiece.
Flint responded well, battling and competing for every first and second ball, pushing Rhyl to the dying minutes.
The Silkwomen shifted the ball really well, moving forward, creating chances and finding the back of the net late on through Stopford.
Winning manager Hale said: “Credit to the girls – an outstanding performance.”
