St Asaph and Denbigh skippers make their mark for Wales cricket team

Harrison Jones claimed two wickets for Wales

North stars Will Ryan and Harrison Jones both made their mark in Wales National County’s drawn encounter at Wiltshire this week.

The three-day NCCA Western Division Two encounter at Corsham CC saw St Asaph skipper Ryan make a total of 80 runs, while spin bowler Jones, captain of Denbigh CC, claimed his first wickets for the national team.

Wales were put into bat and amassed a fine first innings total of 408-9, skipper Cameron Herring posting a magnificent 171 not out, Tegid Phillips 46 and Ryan 38.

In reply, Wilts were bowled out for 357, Jack Harding picking up 4-61 and Harrison Jones 2-49.

In their second innings, Wales declared on 295-8, number eight Herring again starring with 73 not out, Steffan Roberts 53, Brad Wadlan 44 and Ryan 42, hitting six fours and a six.

Needing 347 to win, Wiltshire ended on 157-3, so it ended in a draw, 12 points each.
