Rhys Edwards (Chirk AAA to Holywell Town)
This 19-year-old striker was a superb acquisition for Chirk last season after joining on loan from The New Saints.
He scored 17 club goals for the AAA’s and played as big a role as anyone in the Colliers remaining in the Cymru North.
The fact that last season’s Cymru North runners-up Holywell have now signed him shows just how high a regard Rhys is held in.
Wellmen manager Johnny Haseldin has made Rhys his first signing of the summer, saying: “Rhys is a powerful, energetic and quick centre forward who loves terrorising defenders with his non-stop running which makes him a perfect fit for the way we play.”
Elijah Beattie (Kinmel Bay to Meliden)
Great shot-stopper who played in 33 matches for Kinmel Bay in tier 4 last season.
Has also turned out for St Asaph City, Flint Town United in the Cymru Premier, Prestatyn Town, plus Rhyl and Prestatyn development teams.
Aged just 20, he has a lot of promise.
Meliden manager Warren Adam said: “Pleased to get Elijah to Meliden. A very talented goalkeeper.
“He has bought into what we want to do at the club and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Sam Gregson (to Holyhead Hotspur)
Cracking young talent, believed to be the youngest member of the record-setting Bodedern Athletic tier 4 title-winning squad of 2021-22.
Former Llangoed player who has been in the USA playing for Onondaga University in New York State.
A central midfielder who operates box-to-box, he is Hotspur’s first signing of the summer and certainly a quality one.
Tom Kemp (CPD Y Rhyl 1879 to NFA)
Top-class defender with experience of playing in Europe and the Welsh Premier, as well as winning the Cymru Alliance League.
Tom, 28, rejoins promoted tier 4 club NFA after leaving them to sign for CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in the January 2023 transfer window.
He spent 2021-22 in tier 4 with Prestatyn Sports, but before that truly hit the heights in the Welsh pyramid.
Tom was with Everton as a youngster before signing for Prestatyn Town in 2012.
He went on to make the bench for both of Town’s 2013-14 Europa League first qualifying round games against Latvia’s Liepajas Metalurgs, which the Welsh Premier side won on penalties.
Tom then twice came on as a substitute in the second qualifying round tie against HNK Rijeka of Croatia, which Town lost on aggregate.
In 2016-17, Tom was part of the Prestatyn squad which lifted the Cymru Alliance championship.
He represented the Seasiders in the Welsh Premier before switching to Flint Town United in 2018-19, where he celebrated promotion to the Welsh Premier with the Cae-y-Castell club the following campaign.
The versatile defender made 74 first team appearances in all for Flint before deciding to join Sports in June 2021.
Joe Carey (to Bow FC)
This 22-year-old began his senior career with Llandudno Albion before joining Llandudno, then of the Welsh Premier, in 2018.
The attacking-midfielder had a spell at Holywell Town in 2018-19, also impressing for Llandudno Under-19’s during his time signed for the Wellmen.
Rejoined Llandudno, but for the last three seasons has played for Llandudno Albion, who sadly disbanded at the end of last term.
Now trying his luck with ambitious tier 5 outfit Bow FC.
Mike Platt (Holywell Town to Llay Welfare)
Highly experienced goalkeeper who ends a long association with Holywell to join a Llay Welfare outfit he was first involved with 14 years ago.
The 35-year-old, who has played in the Welsh Premier, has also had stints with Penycae, Bala Town, Newtown, Gresford Athletic and Brickfield Rangers during his career.
Best season for Holywell was 2014-15, when he was a virtual ever-present in the squad which won the treble of Welsh Alliance Division One title, FAW Trophy and Cookson Cup.
Now he aims to make a big impact with the Welfare.
Platt said: “The club gave me one of my first opportunities 14 years ago. I feel like there is unfinished business here and I hope to bring some experience to help the club compete in all competitions.”
