All hail the top goalscorers in North Wales senior football in 2022-23 – male and female!

The 2022-23 North Wales football season produced pure magnificence from so many strikers.
Trearddur Bay’s Asa Thomas topped the chart with 75 goals in all competitions, also becoming the all-time North Wales coast record marksman in the same campaign.

Asa Thomas (Trearddur Bay) 75
League: 57 Cups: 18 Appearances: 36

Recorded the highest number of league goals and biggest total in all competitions in North Wales senior football in 2022-23 and beat the late, great Tommy Welsh’s North Wales coast career record of 631.
Asa finished the campaign with 657, netted between 2007 and the present day.
Scored 13 hat-tricks in 2022-23 and won the North Wales Coast West Division One league title and cup double with Trearddur Bay, as well as picking up numerous individual awards including the Bob Brodie Trophy.
Harrison Bellis (CPD Y Glannau) 62
League: 44 Cups: 18 Appearances: 29

Along with Asa, this young talent is the only male player in North Wales to average more than two goals per game this season.
His 44 league goals ensured he finished as a clear golden boot champion in North Wales Coast East Division One.
Harrison banged in nine hat-tricks, including a 7, 6 and a 5.
Andrew Swarbrick (Ruabon Rovers) 58
League: 32 Cups: 26 Appearances: 33

Shared in a remarkable 107-goal striking partnership with Conner Kendrick in a Ruabon side which was crowned North East Wales Championship Division winners in their final game.
The 34-year-old Swarbrick, a former star with Cefn Druids and Denbigh Town, scored 58 times in 2022-23.
He piled up nine hat-tricks, the last one in the 7-2 title-deciding victory at FC United of Wrexham.
Corrig McGonigle (Bangor 1876) 56
League: 37 Cups: 17 Play-off: 2 Appearances: 35

Scored twice in the Ardal Northern promotion play-off final to ensure 1876 rose to the tier 2 Cymru North.
Began the campaign with a four-goal salvo against Llanberis and bagged eight hat-tricks during 2022-23.
Corrig is already 1876’s all-time leading scorer with 90 goals in 50 appearances.
Conner Kendrick (Ruabon Rovers) 49
League: 37 Cups: 12 Appearances: 36

Lost goals due to the resignation of Saltney Ferry, whose results all became void, but still 49 in 36 appearances is a marvellous effort from this ex-Mold Alexandra great.
An epic partnership with Swarbrick delivered 107 goals, the most prolific combined return in North Wales senior football.
Plundered seven hat-tricks in all.
Rosie Hughes (Wrexham AFC Women) 42
League: 24 Cups: 18 Appearances: 18

Top scorer in North Wales senior women’s football for the second season running and also back-to-back leading markswoman in the Genero Adran North, of which Wrexham finished champions in 2022-23.
Notched eight hat-tricks last term, including a five-goal salvo as the Red Dragons wrapped up the title with an 11-1 victory at CPD Y Rhyl 1879.
Not surprisingly, was named Genero Adran North Player of the Season. Has scored 90 goals in 40 appearances since joining Wrexham in 2021-22.
Connor Owen (CPD Gwalchmai) 39
League: 24 Cups: 15 Appearances: 35

A hat-trick for CPD Gwalchmai to win the North Wales Coast West Snowdonia Fire and Security Premier Division Cup rounded off a perfect season for teenage marvel Connor.
Aged 18, and just 17 for most of the 2022-23 season, Connor’s achievements have been phenomenal.
At one stage he grabbed hat-tricks in three matches in a row and found the net in seven successive games.
Connor finished above some illustrious names to end up top scorer in the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier on 24 league goals.
Aaron Rogers (Llandudno Amateurs) 39
League: 32 Cups: 7 Appearances: 32

Second only to the unstoppable Harrison Bellis in the North Wales Coast East Division One goal scorers table with 32 league goals.
Azz scored 39 times in all competitions and played a major role in the Amateurs reaching their first NWCFA Junior Cup Final.
Netted some stunning goals, a truly class player.
Sam Giles (Acton) 39
League: 36 Cups: 3 Appearances: 22

Collected seven hat-tricks with a best of seven goals in a single game.
Kallum Pierce (Aston Park Rangers 36/Hawarden Rangers 2) 38
League: 32 Cups: 6 Appearances: 22

A spell with Hawarden Rangers early in 2023 probably cost him a few more goals, but nonetheless 38 in 22 matches is an awesome total.
After his return to Aston in March, Pierce smashed in 13 goals in five matches, including eight in a 15-1 demolition of Bellevue.
Connor Morris (Kinmel Bay) 37
League: 32 Cups: 5 Appearances: 33

Former Llysfaen striker who joined Kinmel Bay last season and was top-scorer in the North Wales Coast East Premier Division with 32 league goals.
Connor found the net 20 times in his last nine matches, including a double hat-trick versus Glan Conwy and four against Prestatyn Sports.

David Forbes (Holywell Town) 36
League: 22 Cups: 14 Appearances: 44

Veteran Forbes won the NEWFA Challenge Cup with Holywell and played a key role in the Wellmen finishing runners-up in Cymru North.
Finished up joint Golden Boot winner in the Cymru North alongside Prestatyn Town’s Dan Atkins with 22 goals.
Daniel Woosey (Castell Alun Colts) 35
League: 7 Cups: 28 Appearances: 32

Here’s a welcome addition – supplied to us by his manager Rhys Williams (with thanks).
Cup ties were Daniel’s speciality as they provided 80% of his 35 goals. Dan notched 28 goals in 16 cup games.
He scored five hat-tricks, including seven goals in a Mike Beech Memorial Trophy 12-1 victory at Coedpoeth, plus six in 12-0 success against Bellevue in the same competition.
Joe Jones (Llandudno Amateurs) 34
League: 25 Cups: 9 Appearances: 31

Formed a magical partnership with Azz Rogers up front, the pair sharing 73 goals in all competitions and 57 in the league.
Ryan Potts (St Asaph City) 33
League: 22 Cups: 11 Appearances: 30

With 33 goals in 30 games, Ryan was a key figure in St Asaph winning the North Wales Coast East Premier Division title, Cookson Cup and NWCFA Intermediate Cup treble.
He joined Saints from Rhuddlan Town at the start of 2022-23 and proved unstoppable in both league and cup.
Kirstie Kural (Connah’s Quay Nomads) 33
League: 14 Cups: 19 Appearances: 23

Improved on her goals total of 26 from central midfield in 2021-22 by netting 33 times last season, making her second highest scorer in the whole of North Wales.
Unfortunately, she has revealed she will be leaving the Nomads this summer and aiming for higher level football elsewhere.
Outstanding attacking midfielder who stood out in front of 9,500+ at the Racecourse when Nomads were narrowly beaten 2-1 at champions Wrexham before live TV cameras on March 26 – her birthday.
Mike Latham (FC Queen’s Park 31/Cefn Albion 1) 32
League: 21 Cups: 11 Appearances: 24

Amazing! Joined the Park from Cefn Albion in the January window and knocked in a remarkable 31 goals in 18 games.
Helped Queen’s Park win the treble of North East Wales Premier Division title, Mike Beech Memorial Trophy and Horace Wynne Cup.
Earlier in the season netted once in five outings for tier 3 Albion’s first team.
Jen Cox (Llangefni Town) 30
League: 28 Cups: 2 Appearances: 24

A truly stunning season for a player who finished up top scorer in the whole of the North Wales Women’s League.
Reached the 30-mark in all competitions, making it 41 goals in 35 matches since Llangefni joined the league in 2021-22.
In keeping with Jen’s outstanding form has been a tremendous improvement from Cefni as a team. They finished third in 2022-23 compared to eighth the season before.
Jen formed a prolific triumvirate with Ffion Thomas (17 goals) and Ellie Coulson (14) who produced 61 goals between them.
Nathan Brown (Denbigh Town) 30
League: 19 Cups: 11 Appearances: 42

And sneaking in as a late entry!
This 24-year-old football genius reached the 30-mark by scoring in the final game of the season, a 6-1 Ardal Northern League Cup final win for Denbigh Town over Bow Street.
A magnificent footballer who scored many spectacular goals over the season.
