Kinmel and Trearddur both impress in battle of the Bays

Women’s football friendly – June 4, 2023
Kinmel Bay 1 (Lucy Perry)
Trearddur Bay 3 (Freya Davies, Seren Macdonald, Saffron Williams)
Report from Trearddur Bay
Bay met Bay on a beautiful summer’s day.
Kinmel Bay, set to return to competitive football in the North Wales Women’s League this season, played their first game under new manager Naomii Oakley.
Ynys Môn side Trearddur were making a quick return to action after a much improved 2022-23 league campaign which saw them finish seventh.
The game kicked off at 2 pm, with both teams opting to play 3 x 30 mins, mainly due to the hot weather.
During the first 30 minutes, Trearddur had lots of possession but no goals to show for it. The pitch was really dry after the recent spell of nice weather.

The second half-hour had a much faster start, Freya Davies cutting in from the left and half-volleying into the goal for the islanders.
Shortly after Seren Macdonald scored a second for Trearddur from outside the box with a lovely shot that dipped just under the bar.
Trearddur Bay’s defence kept everything tight, with a few balls running through to the keeper but no real shots on target for the visitors at this point.
The last 30 minutes started in the same fashion, both teams getting off to a good start after the break.
Saffron Williams scored a great goal from a tight angle to make it 3-0.
The game finished with lots of chances for Trearddur, including when Rhian Williams went one on one with the keeper who made a big save.
Efforts from Davies and Abbie Manning flew just over the bar.
In the last five minutes Kinmel Bay got a deserved goal back with a nice strike from Lucy Perry into the bottom corner.
Trearddur Bay said after the game: “We would like to thank Kinmel Bay for a great game and lovely hospitality after the game in the pub. We wish them the best of luck in the league and can’t wait to play them again.”
