Report: Barry Griffiths
Just a month after losing 10-0 at Kinmel Bay, bottom side Glan Conwy turned things around in astonishing fashion with a 3-2 win over the Morfa side on Wednesday at Cae Ffwt.
Even more surprising was the fact Kinmel were on a nine-match winning run and Glan had lost six on the bounce!
The impact of this game in terms of table place is that Glan remain at 16 while Bay slip a position to sixth, adding pressure on the last match of the season against Prestatyn Sports on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 2.30 at Y Morfa.
Kinmel must win that one to maximise their chances of a top-five finish.
Each club at Cae Ffwt had five subs on the bench but some of Bay’s frequent players were not present.
Joel Morgan Jones opened the scoring for the hosts with the only goal of the first half in 26th minute, showing great persistence to find the net.
Glan’s Cameron West, assisted by Trefor Jones, scored on the hour and sub William Arnold notched their third on 68.
For the Bay, Connor Morris scored both goals in the 67th and 75th minutes, lifting him to 36 for the season.
Despite Bay’s disappointment and what some view as a surprise it was a good fast match to watch.
Just a second win of the campaign for Glan Conwy – well done indeed.
Scott Roberts’ strike and a Steffan Williams own goal banked a tremendous win for Mochdre at second-placed Llannefydd.
Tudur Jones replied for the hosts, who had assistant-manager Ally Stubbs sent off on 78 minutes for a second yellow.
Lucas Edwards (2) and Joe Roberts earned Meliden a cracking win at Cae Sling.
Alfie Caldecott and Daniel Hughes replied for Phoenix, but it was not enough.
No chance of Saints taking it easy just because they have won the title.
Seven goals without reply were dispatched by the away team at the Meadows, Matty Beach, David Hayes, James Williams, sub Kieran Garnett-Hughes (2), Josh Brown (penalty) and David Algieri shared the riches.
Despite having Ethan Taylor dismissed for a second yellow on 22 minutes, Rhuddlan still managed to take the lead via Jay Whitehouse after 39.
However, everything all turned around in the second half as the 10-men folded, Tom Kelly, Luke Holmans, James Thomas and Adam Gage scoring the goals which led Llansannan to victory.
Dylan Cunnah (2), Matthew Robinson and Owen Jones all appeared on the scoresheet tor runners-up and tier 4 promotion-bound NFA.
Jack Gibbon replied for the Dragons.
Kevin Lloyd’s 94th minute strike earned a dramatic win for Llanrug over a Gwalchmai who really played well enough to land at least a draw.
Connor Owen’s 32nd goal of the season on 25 minutes handed the Anglesey visitors a half-time lead, but Lloyd levelled on 79 before his 29th goal of the campaign won it.
Jordan Pritchard’s goal, assisted by Harry Morgan Jones, gave Tigers the lead after 30 minutes/
It was 2-0 on 51 minutes, Callum Davidson cutting in from the right hand side to Paul Rowlands who hit a delightful first-time chip over Gwyndaf Owen.
Rowlands scored again just five minutes later, receiving a short free-kick from Jamie Ryan Jones, before turning two defenders inside out and finishing with his left foot.
Ifan Jones, Deio Gwilym and Guto Roberts nabbed the goals which pocketed three points for Nefyn, Gwion Davies responding.
Rhodri Jones, Aled Jones and Luke Baum’s 18th goal of the season made sure of a home triumph.
Robin Roberts (2), Luis Teles and Matthew Parry shared the first-half goals which gained a narrow win for Arriva.
A Mark Williams own goal, Aaron Davies-Thomas and Gerallt Hughes hit back for the Rovers.
Rhys Hughes, Meilir Rowlands (2), Osian Glyn and Rhys Roberts grabbed the goals that mattered for Bont, Rhys Thomas with a consolation for Y Fali, who took a seventh minute lead.
Top-scorer Marquis Holland struck twice in this win for Llanfairpwll, Morgan Rowlands also on target, Andy Will and Mike Jones hitting back for Holyhead, who had Harri Hughes red-carded in the 90th minute.
Joe Williams scored the two goals which booked Llanuwchllyn victory and a fourth-place finish in Ardal North East.
Richard Litchfield notched Welshpool’s reply.
Connor Hughes, Owen Davies, Dean Hyland and a Michael Fleetwood own goal ensured Greenfield recorded a good home win.
Joseph Jones and Sam Riley replied for the visitors. Hughes was red-carded late on for Greenfield.
Mike Latham’s hat-trick, including a penalty, sealed the win which gave Queen’s Park the title.
This match was reported on in more depth by Grassroots North Wales last night.
Thomas Croston, Elliot Croston and an N/A goal clinched the spoils for Llanfairfechan, Jonah Armstrong and Harvey Brewerton on the mark for the visitors.
