North Wales Coast East Division One – Hillier-Evans keeps 10th clean sheet this season as Bow win again

Grassroots North Wales writes a lot about goal scorers but maybe not enough about goalkeepers.

So how about a shout out for Bow shot-stopper Richard Hillier-Evans, who on Saturday became the first in Division One East to keep 10 clean sheets this season.

He has also saved no less than EIGHT penalties.

Prestatyn-based Bow, second in Division One, kept their promotion push on the go with a fine 3-0 home victory over CPD Y Glannau.

On a run of 10 games unbeaten in the league, Bow had lost 4-1 at Y Glannau in October, so were out for revenge in the return at Bastion Gardens.

The hosts applied pressure from the start and took a deserved lead in the seventh minute after Loui O’Carroll danced his way through the defence but got brought down on the edge of the box. O’Carroll connected beautifully with the free kick, but it cannoned off the bar and fell nicely for Mike Chapman to make it 1-0.

In the 19th minute Ashley Seddon and Chapman combined to release O’Carroll and the in-form youngster slotted calmly past the oncoming keeper.

This woke Y Glannau up and they had a couple of decent corners and long range efforts that Hillier-Evans and his defence dealt with.

Then a long ball from midfield put the visitors through, but a great tackle by captain Ste Middleman stopped the attack.

A few minutes later Seddon again was set free and left a couple of defenders standing before being brought down in the box.

The ever-present Aaron Boyle dispatched his penalty to make it 3-0 Bow at half time.

Y Glannau were more of a threat after the break and Hillier-Evans was soon forced into a couple of great saves.

Back came Bow and this time away keeper Brad Wright had to produce his best as the hosts sought a fourth goal.

In the final 20 minutes Y Glannau had the better chances and after Hillier-Evans made a great stop Boyle headed off the line from the rebound.

A tremendous double save late on from Hillier-Evans denied Y Glannau even a consolation.
