LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST ROUND-UP – APRIL 1

ARDAL NORTH LEAGUE CUP

Saltney Town 3 Llangefni Town 1

No sooner had Saltney qualified for the quarter-finals than they were expelled from the competition for fielding three ineligible players.

After losing 3-1 at the Dragon Steel Stadium last Saturday, Llangefni complained that three in the Saltney line-up were signed beyond the conference date for this tie of January 7.

Although the original game on January 7 was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, the recruitment of the trio after the conference date made them ineligible for the rearranged fixture.

While the decision to expel Saltney was not announced officially by the league, in the draw for the League Cup third round/last eight being played this Saturday (April 8), Llangefni’s name instead of Saltney’s appeared as Llanrwst United’s opponents.

Bow Street await the winners in the semi-finals.

In last weekend’s tie, Shay Davies – one of the ineligible players – Sam Reynolds and a Jack Williams own goal made up the Saltney total, Matty Jones replying for Cefni.

ARDAL NORTH EAST

Cefn Albion 3 Llandrindod Wells 1

The talented Callum Mannion made it back-to-back hat-tricks for Albion who remain on the title trail in Ardal North East.

Rhys Davies replied with a late consolation for Llandrindod.

Corwen 1 Penycae 2

Goals from Eric Durnell and Ben Buley secured the honours for Peyncae, who ended up with 10 men after captain Drew Wickens was sent off for a second yellow card.

Tom Williams responded with a penalty for Corwen, for whom Scott Evans missed an earlier spot-kick.

Llanrhaeadr 0 Bow Street 4

Dafydd Carruthers (2), Ifan Burrell and Rhydian Davies (penalty) earned in-form Bow Street a comfortable away win.

Daniel Kelly was red-carded for Llanrhaeadr in first half stoppage time.

Rhayader Town 1 Llanfair United 2

Late strikes from Matthew Spencer and Karl Seliaerts guided Llanfair to back-to-back league wins, Sion Herman having put hosts Llanrhaeadr into a 57th minute lead.

Rhos Aelwyd 3 Welshpool Town 2

Ian Hughes (2) and Dafydd Robertson found the net as Rhos narrowly got past the challenge of Welshpool, James Clewlow and Ryan Knott (pen) running the mid-Wales Lilywhites close.
