Craig Roberts was a hat-trick hero for a Menai Bridge outfit which hit the opposition for seven in Thursday night’s derby at Treborth.
Bridge came flying out the blocks and put the Pentraeth back-line under sustained pressure, however a superb display by 18 year old goalkeeper Trystan Ranalescotos kept the Tigers at bay.
Pentraeth went close to taking the lead after 20 minutes, hitting the post with a free-kick. They would soon rue that missed chance, as Menai went up the other end and broke the deadlock, Callum Davidson’s low cross tucked away by Craig Roberts.
The lead was doubled on 31 minutes when Ranalescotos and defender Dyfed Alston collided when trying to clear a Davidson cross, leaving Lewis Clayton with a tap-in.

The floodgates opened as Tigers added two more goals on 32 and 34 minutes. Another Davidson cross from the left fell to Craig Roberts to drill in his second of the match. A short corner from Callum Thomas was played to Jamie Ryan Jones, whose shot from the edge of the area bounced into the net.
Roberts completed a hat-trick to make it 5-0 with the last kick of the first half, a flick-on from Clayton found the veteran striker in acres of space and he duly converted into the roof of the net.
Clayton grabbed his second of the game shortly after the restart, making a one-two with Roberts before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Davidson finally got on the scoresheet after 54 minutes, Clayton feeding him in to smash a low drive from the edge of the area.
Pentraeth were yet again denied by the woodwork from a free-kick, this time the crossbar on 56 minutes.
Another opportunity looked certain to be a goal but for a fine save by Tigers goalkeeper David Clarke.
