GENERO ADRAN NORTH – APRIL 1, 2023

Llandudno 5 (S Owen 4, Doran 32, Jarvis-Evans 36, M Williams 51, Phillips 90+2)
Llanfair United 1 (H Davies 7)

Sofie Owen has scored many great goals for Llandudno in her career so it was perhaps a little surprising that the one she got on Sunday was her first of this season.

However, it is perfectly understandable considering the captain plays in defence these days as opposed to previous seasons when she filled an attacking role.

What was also pleasing from Sofie’s point of view on Sunday is she was named Player of the Match in the 5-1 win over Llanfair which ended the Seasiders’ league programme on a high note..

The result ensured the inaugural 2021-22 Genero Adran North champions finished this season in third place – a more than respectable effort considering the number of absences they have had to contend with.

Taking on Llanfair at Nantporth Stadium, Tudno broke the deadlock after just four minutes.

Stacey Tradewell’s corner came out to Erin Doran, who headed back into the box.

The ball was cleared by the visitors and it landed nicely for Sofie Owen, who brought it down and from 25 yards sent in a shot which floated over keeper Ffion Davies into the net.

Three minutes later, it was 1-1 when Harriet Davies levelled for Llanfair.

Young Erin Doran has improved constantly as the season has gone on and it was the 17-year-old who restored the home lead on 32 minutes.

Doran received the ball back from Becky Jarvis-Evans following a short corner and lifted a shot over the keeper’s head on the front post into the top-left.

It was 3-1 when defender Jarvis-Evans claimed her second goal of the campaign on 36 minutes.

Tradewell and Doran exchanged passes from a short corner, but the former’s cross was initially headed clear.

Maddie Williams controlled and slotted a pass to Sioned Phillips, who laid the ball off for Jarvis-Evans to place it into the bottom-right corner.

Half time 3-1

Six minutes into the second half, Tudno bagged their fourth.

Keeper Caitlyn Bibby-Fry passed out from the back to Sofie Owen, who found Shona Roberts. The defender carried the ball down the right, then crossed to Maddie Williams who ran into the 18-yard box and shot into the bottom-left corner.

In stoppage time, Tudno added a fifth.

Williams found Jarvis-Evans whose quick pass released Phillips to slot the ball through both centre-halves and run on to slide home.

Player of the Match: Sofie Owen.
