Birthday girl Ellie Sian Jones reached the age of 19 in style with two goals in her team’s Sunday victory at The Oval.
The Amlwch youngster boosted her total for the season to eight as the Anglesey team nudged closer to the top five of the North Wales League.
After a 20-minute delay before the start, Caernarfon forced an early corner which produced a breakthrough as Lisa Jones forced the ball home.
Amlwch started to create half-chances culminating in Ellie Jones hitting the post on 25 minutes only for the ball to rebound into ex-Town player Sara Williams’ hands.
With Cerys Gadd rattling the upright from 25 yards minutes later, Amlwch’s pressure finally told with an equalising goal.
Jo Bramwell won the ball in midfield before threading a delightful pass through to Ellie Jones, who finished brilliantly.
On 40 minutes a sweeping move involving Bramwell and Jones ended with Gadd finishing nicely to put Amlwch ahead.
Both Amlwch full-backs, Emily Ridges and Leah Jones, had been very influential in the first half, Ridges was replaced at half-time by Shannon Thomas, returning from maternity.
There was a slow start to the second half from both sides. The first real opportunity fell to Ellie Jones, who had a 1 on 1, but her shot was well saved by Williams.
Two minutes later the outcome was different as this time Ellie Jones won the duel to get her second of the game.
