Winning a cup semi-final by any score is a wonderful thing – but to bang in EIGHT goals in a last four tie is something else.
Denbigh Town’s 8-1 hammering of Bridgend Street in Saturday’s FAW Trophy semi at Llanidloes was a magnificent feat.
True, there may have been a one-tier gap in standard between the sides, but Bridgend had whipped Rhos Aelwyd from the same level as Denbigh 5-2 in the previous round.
Anything like a repeat of their weekend show in the final against Trethomas Bluebirds on April 29 will give Town a major chance of winning the national competition for a second time in their history.
So how unusual is an 8-1 triumph in a semi-final? How often do these type of slaughters happen when a place in a final is at stake? Looking back through North Wales football history, they are pretty rare.
Here are some big same stage wins from seasons gone by.
A ruthless display from the Nomads at Belle Vue, Rhyl, sent them through to the Welsh Cup final for only the second time in their history in 2018.
Andy Owens (3), Ryan Wignall, Michael Bakare and Nathan Woolfe shared the goals for Andy Morrison’s side.
Although Bangor finished second in the Welsh Premier that season, they were relegated after having their Tier 1 and Uefa Licenses revoked. Nomads went on to lift the Welsh Cup.
Two of the most emphatic semi-final successes you will ever see happened in the same 2015-16 season.
Airbus reached their first Welsh Cup final with a seven-goal pasting of Port Talbot at Latham Park.
Tony Gray (3), James Murphy (2), Ryan Wignall and Kevin Monteiro split the goals for the Wingmakers.

There was no stopping City on a sunny afternoon at Belle Vue, Rhyl, as a Marc Lloyd-Williams hat-trick took the headlines in a nap-hand drubbing of Druids.
Kenny Burgess and Craig Roberts also appeared on the scoresheet for Peter Davenport’s team.
Before 1996-97, by which time the Football League and non-league English pyramid Welsh clubs were banned from the competition, semi-finals were largely two-legged affairs.
In the 1950’s, however, the last four ties were decided over the one game.
In 1958-59, Cardiff City stormed into the final with a 6-0 thrashing of Wrexham (let’s move on quickly) and in 1956-57, the Bluebirds were even more severe on Oswestry Town, handing them a 7-0 battering.
All the way back in 1887-88, Chirk made North Wales proud by reaching the final at the expense of England’s Northwich Victoria, who were thumped 5-0 by the Colliers!
Albion were flying at this point in what was just their second season at a club.
To reach the Clwyd League Premier Cup final, they walloped Rhyl Rovers 7-2 with just two players sharing the goals. Jordan Kane banged in four and Joel Lloyd scooped a treble.
In 2014-15, Albion won a final 9-0, swamping Llysfaen in the REM Jones Cup showpiece.
There have also been some emphatic semi-final thumpings handed out by women’s teams in recent seasons.
Last term, Genero Adran North champions Llandudno advanced to the North Wales Coast Cup final with a 6-0 defeat of Denbigh, Jasmin Dutton with a hat-trick, Maddie Williams a double and Stacey Tradewell a single.
Ceri Slaney (3), Katie Bowe (2), Ffion Owen and an own goal sent the Canaries into the final, but they never got to play it.
Had to be seen to be believed.
Brazil being beaten 7-1 at any time in history was unthinkable, but in a World Cup semi-final? The competition they had won on more occasions than anyone else? (5).
Thomas Müller (11 minutes), Miroslav Klose (23), Toni Kroos (24, 26), Sami Khedira (29) and Andre Schürrle (69, 79) concocted the massacre, Oscar with a scant 90th minute consolation for Brazil.
How many would it have been if Erling Haaland had been with City at the time?
Gabriel Jesus led the way with four goals, Kevin De Bruyne, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez adding one apiece in a 9-0 rout at the Etihad.
