What a time to be alive for Bangor-born Football League star Nathan Broadhead!

As well as being selected for the Wales senior squad this week, the 24-year-old Ipswich Town forward has won the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month for February.

Nathan joined League One Ipswich on a three-and-a-half year deal in January for a reported fee of £1.5m. This ended his 15-year association with Everton.

The North Walian spent his early years at Bangor City and Wrexham before signing for Everton in 2008 aged 10.

He won last month’s League One Goal of the Month following his strike against Sheffield Wednesday.

The goal – a fine free-kick late in the first half against the Owls – opened his Town account.

Broady’s stunner had already won the Club’s Goal of the Month, but has now also picked up the divisional gong.

He beat off competition from Peterborough United’s Hector Kyprianou, Cheltenham Town’s Elliot Bonds and Lincoln City’s Ben House. The front man also won the Greene King Player of the Month for February.

It caps off a brilliant week, and month, for Nathan, who on Tuesday found out he had been called up to Rob Page’s Wales squad, along with Blues team-mate Wes Burns, for upcoming EURO 2024 qualifiers against Croatia and Latvia.

Wales take on Croatia in Group D of qualifying on Saturday, 25 March at Stadion Poljud in Split, before then facing Latvia in Cardiff on Tuesday, 28 March.

Nathan has previously been called up to the Wales senior squad, although he is yet to earn his first cap for The Dragons having been forced to withdraw through injury when given the nod by Page last May.

Broadhead and Burns will join up with their international team-mates this Sunday, the day after Town host Shrewsbury at Portman Road.

As well as his spells with Everton and Ipswich, Nathan has had loan stints at Burton Albion, Sunderland and Wigan Athletic and has represented Wales at every level from under-17 to under-21.
