NWCFA WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP SEMI-FINAL

Ffion Wyn Williams led the way with a hat-trick as Felinheli advanced to the NWCFA Challenge Cup Final with a double-figure victory over Llanystumdwy.

The Genero Adran North team from Cae Seilo were strong favourites to overcome their North Wales League opponents, and the expected script materialised.

Felin made the breakthrough in the 22nd minute when the 18-year-old talent Iona Sloan-Lewis found the net.

Ffion Williams then took centre stage with a nine-minute hat-trick, scoring on 26, 30 and 35.

Katie Midwinter made it 5-0 and before half time a Tash Matthews own goal brought up the half dozen for the higher league side.

Sloan-Lewis notched her second six minutes into the second half and on 66 it was the turn of Fflur Williams to make the scoresheet.

Llio Emyr made it nine and the final goal was put away by Fflur Williams in the 89th minute.

Felinheli Under-19 player, right-back Ceri Hickey, got woman of the match.

In the final, Felinheli will meet holders Llandudno. Date and venue to be confirmed.

In what must rank as their best performance of the season Chirk pulled themselves further away from the relegation zone with a 5-1 thrashing of Prestatyn at Bastion Gardens.

The Colliers made it 10 points out of a possible last 15 by completing a double over the Seasiders, who they beat 2-1 at Holyhead Road back in September.

Dale Davies struck twice in the first half, netting on nine and 30 minutes, Rhys Edwards also on target after 18 and Steffan Rogers with 34 on the clock.

Tom Hilditch bagged the solitary home reply on 22.

Just the one goal in the second half, Matty Williams making it 5-1 to Andy Pryde’s men from a Ryan Williams assist.

Ruthin Town 1 Mold Alexandra 1

All-square at the Memorial Fields where Llyr Morris handed Ruthin a third-minute lead, but Nathan Mendoza levelled after 28.
