Denbigh Town condemn spectator violence which marred last night’s game against Bangor 1876

Denbigh Town Football Club have condemned the violence between spectators which clouded last night’s 1-0 Ardal North West League victory over Bangor 1876.

Early in the second half trouble occurred behind one of the goals – the far end furthest from the Central Park ground entrance – where supporter scuffles broke out.

The unrest was filmed by an onlooker and later shown on social media.

Both club stewards and then North Wales Police officers intervened and ensured the disruption ceased relatively quickly.

A large police presence gathered at the exits when the match was finished to ensure all supporters dispersed safely.

This morning Denbigh Town issued the following statement: “We were disappointed to have spectators fighting at Central Park yesterday evening, something we have not had previously and certainly not something we want to happen again.

“The club is looking into matters to establish the cause and to see what we can learn to ensure such disorder does not happen at future matches.“

North Wales Police officers were praised for the way they dealt with the incident.

The club added: “Denbigh Town FC would like to thank North Wales Police for their prompt and effective attendance and their actions which diffused the situation.”
