NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – February 18

PREMIER DIVISION

Prestatyn Sports 3 CPD Bro Cernyw 1

A goal of the season contender from Antonio Jacovelli put Sports on course for a win which helped erase memories of a surprise home defeat to Cerrigydrudion seven days earlier.

It was against the run of play when on 31 minutes Bro took the lead, Lewis Brownson on the edge of the box curling an excellent shot into the top corner.

Sports picked themselves up and pressed for the equaliser which eventually came just before half time, an outstanding overhead strike from Jacovelli making it 1-1.

Jacovelli caught the ball perfectly, his acrobatic effort powering past the keeper from close range.

Sports grew in strength and the second half was very one-sided. They finally went ahead on 58 minutes when the ball fell to outstanding defender Gaz Walsh, who steered it into the net

The icing was put on the cake on 78 minutes when a Joel Poh goal made it 3-1, again capping off a top performance for the winger who has been an excellent addition this season and become a big favourite in the dressing room.

Meliden 2 CPD Cerrigydrudion 1

Having won so well as Prestatyn Sports the weekend before, Cerrig failed to repeat the feat at nearby Meliden.

A Gavin Owen own goal put the hosts ahead on 25 minutes before Llion Thomas levelled after 34.

The game was heading for a draw until Matthew Griffiths delivered the winner four minutes from the end.

Glan Conwy 0 St Asaph City 5

The leaders completed a fourth win on the bounce and are now seven points clear.

Simon Fawcett, Ryan Potts, Ellis Blench and a Josh Brown double sealed the points against the bottom side.

Kinmel Bay 3 Blaenau Ffestiniog Reserves 0

Tate Walker, Ethan Evans and Ryan Hulse shared the goals for Kinmel, who could afford the luxury of a late missed penalty by Haydn Rutter.

Llandudno Junction 2 Mochdre Sports 2

Joshua Grimshaw’s 91st minute penalty rescued a commendable point for 10-man Mochdre.

Curtis Cooper gave the Railwaymen a fourth-minute lead, but Finlay Jones equalised on the stroke of half time.

Harri Jones restored the Junction upper hand after 47, but Mochdre were still able to get the draw, despite having Logan Williams dismissed for a second yellow on 55.

Llanfairfechan Town 2 Llandyrnog United 0

Ellis Jones and Dan Hughes pocketed the all-important goals for a Llanfairfechan side whose win keeps them out of the bottom five.

Rhuddlan Town 4 CPD Llannefydd 1

Andrew Merner (2), Dave Sharkey and Sean Roberts combined to secure the win for rampant Rhuddlan which dealt a knock to second-place Llannefydd’s title hopes.

Ynyr Clwyd responded for the away side.

DIVISION ONE

CPD Caer Clwyd 1 Abergele 2

Jack Hoult and Connah Atkinson supplied the goals which made sure Abergele remain seven points clear at the summit with a narrow win at Myddelton College.

Morus Owen brought Caer Clwyd level just after the hour and overall the home side put up a good show.

CPD Y Glannau 2 NFA 3

Jordan Taylor came up with the added time goal which earned NFA a dramatic win at Y Glannau.

A game featuring two free-scoring teams could have gone either way.

Chris McQuillen delivered a double for the hosts, Owen Jones and sub Jack Willis the other scorers for the Rhyl visitors.

Llysfaen 6 Penrhyn Bay 1

Six-goal Llysfaen ended a run of four defeats with a win over the last side they had beaten – Penrhyn Bay.

Tom Collier (2), Steven Collins (2), Ashley Morris and Dan Batey split the six home goals, Jack Such replying.

Rhos United 0 Llandudno Amateurs 1

Joe Jones’ 36th minute penalty was all that divided these high-flyers in what was a real Clash of the Titans at Brookfield Drive.

Rhos, who had won six games in a row, felt the penalty was contentious, claiming the challenge which prompted it was outside the area.

Rhyl All Stars 3 CPD Henllan 3

Added time drama at the Rhyl Leisure Centre ground.

New signing Tyler Donnelly put All Stars 3-1 up in the 93rd minute and that surely was that.

Not so. Billy Wilde replied for Henllan a minute later and with 102 on the clock Peter Davies plundered the equaliser.

Earlier, Joseph Smith and Thomas Inns had netted for RAS, Lewis Thomas for the visitors.

Rhyl Dragons 1 Bow 6

Six of the best from Bow at Belle Vue.

Mike Chapman (2) and Loui O’Carroll put the Prestatyn visitors three-up at half time.

Tom Weir, Azz Boyle and Martin King made it six in the second half, Dragons replying with a penalty.
