Llandudno 7 (M Williams 24, 45+3, 70 & 89; Tradewell 27; F Owen 64 & 68)

Maddie Williams well and truly returned to form with four goals in Llandudno’s 7-2 thrashing of Pwllheli in Sunday’s NWCFA Challenge Cup tie at The Rec.

On a ground where they had suffered a shock Welsh Cup exit last season, Tudno made no mistake this time, achieving a thumping success despite travelling with only 12 fit players and a stand-in goalkeeper.

Both sides battled hard from the first whistle and it was not until the 24th minute that the scoring began from the game’s first corner.

Stacey Tradewell’s delivery to the penalty spot was headed home by Williams.

The visitors soon added another, a good pull back by Becky Jarvis-Evans finding Tradewell, who fired in her first goal of the campaign.

A mistake at the back from Tudno allowed Pwll to reply via Bess Roberts on 36 minutes.

Three minutes into added time at the end of the half, Jasmin Dutton played a good pass to Charlotte Perry, who advanced and found Williams, who scored with a great shot into the bottom-left corner.

Half-time: Pwllheli 1 Llandudno 3

The home side were by no means out of it and their determination shone through at the start of the second half.
When Mari Owen netted to make it 3-2 in the 61st minute, it was game on.

Llandudno responded quickly when a Tradewell corner was cleared to Ffion Owen, who lashed into the net for 4-2.

It was not long before a long ball over the home defence by Dutton set Ffion Owen free again to shoot into the top corner for her eighth goal this term.

Williams completed her hat-trick in the 70th minute to put the tie out of sight at 6-2.

A minute from time Tudno added another when a Shona Roberts throw found Tradewell. She turned and fed a smart pass into Williams, who put away her fourth of the day and 14th goal of the season.
