Rhostyllen 1 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2

Rhyl 1879 returned to the summit after making it six league games unbeaten at the expense of bottom-place battlers Rhostyllen.

Lilywhites manager Gareth Thomas welcomed back James Jones and Casey Faulkner, who have now completed lengthy suspensions. Newcomer James Stead also made the match day squad.

Speedy Macauley Taylor broke the deadlock midway through the first half. The youngster was picked out by James Jones who delivered a delightful ball deep from his own half.

Taylor calmly took the ball down and beat the imposing Josh Jones in the Rhostyllen goal.

Jack Higgins was unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty on the half-hour mark when he appeared to be tugged down in the box.

Not to miss out it was Higgins again who would get his chance just before the break.

Jack Davies whipped a corner in from the right, and Kieran Ellis headed down to Higgins who was able to get enough room to fire the ball in from close range.

Half-time: 0-2

After the break manager Thomas rang the changes. Debutant Stead almost scored with just his second touch.

The home side were awarded a penalty with less than five minutes left after Warren Adam mistimed a tackle.

Tomos Williams stepped up, but Luke Wilmot kept out the kick and then the rebound, only for the taker to score at the third attempt.

Despite shipping late pressure 1879 would hold on for all 3 points.

Hawarden Rangers 0 Flint Mountain 5

Mountain went level on points with second-place Bangor 1876 after a convincing win at Hawarden.

Goals from Kyle Smyth, Frankie Antoine, Corey Smart, Calyn Spencer and Sam Molyneux ensured Aden Shannon’s side earned maximum reward.

Brickfield Rangers 1 Denbigh Town 3

Town found their weekend visit to Clywedog Park much tougher than the previous month’s clash with Brickfield at Central Park, which Denbigh won 9-1.

The return tussle saw Paul Fleming leap highest to nod the visitors into a 15th minute lead.

From their first attack on 22 minutes, Jardel Lima Teixeira applied a fine finish for Brickfield’s equaliser.

Nathan Brown’s cracking long-ranger edged Dewi Llion’s men back in front before half time.

Rangers worked hard in the second half and for a good while the outcome was in the balance, until Matthew Worrall’s 79th minute strike sealed the away win.

This match was reported on in detail by Grassroots North Wales on Saturday.

Llangefni Town 1 Llay Welfare 1

The only two goals of Saturday’s game at Cae Bob Parry came within two minutes of each other.

Matty Jones gave Llangefni a 17th minute lead, but Lewis Bickerton-Cole levelled on 19.

Nantlle Vale 0 Llanrwst United 0

Stalemate at Penygroes.

Saltney Town 2 CPD Y Felinheli 0

The Bordermen recorded their first league win since October – four games ago.

It needed two late goals from Shay Davies to seal the honours for Saltney in a game where Felinheli were left cursing their luck.

The visitors were denied a clear penalty and also somehow missed a close range sitter where the ball ran along the goal-line, but not over it. Several other near misses left the travellers in despair.

Town clinched it when Davies scored on 83 and 86 minutes.
