No matter how well the opposition are playing Bangor 1876 always seem to be able to produce something a couple of levels higher.
Take today’s visitors Llangefni Town for example. The islanders had won three games on the bounce and having lost just 3-2 at home to 1876 at the start of the season were expected to give Bangor quite a test.
As it was, 1876 dished out another of their familiar canings.
The table-toppers made it 15 wins from as many matches with 104 goals scored and just six conceded. They have kept 11 clean sheets from their 15 games.
Today’s action at Nantporth saw Ffion Bee put the hosts ahead on 12 minutes before captain Danielle Barnfield notched her 10th goal of the season and Bangor’s 100th in the league in 2022-23.
Ella Jones made it 3-0 on 35 minutes with her 12th strike of the campaign and Stevie Donougher added number four before the interval.
In the second half, Mia Roberts’ 10th of the season made it 5-0 on 49 minutes, then Donougher brought her tally this term to 26 goals as she completed a double for the afternoon.
Late goals from Ceri Thomas and Menna Evans rounded off the scoring.
1876 manager Aron Griffith said: “Hats off to the girls today. Every week they seem to amaze us coaching staff with amazing football being played.
“On and off the ball today they worked their socks off for it and showed us what every game means to them. The team effort we gave today was superb, seven out of the 8 we scored today were by different scorers which shows we were working as a team .
“Coming into that type of game when the opposition has been in brilliant form in their last 3 matches and to score brilliant team goals and keeping a clean sheet is brilliant.
“Llangefni gave it all today and well done them and hope the rest of their season goes well.”
Kaelyn Williams was a hat-trick star for a Flint side which celebrated their third win of the season.
In a seven-goal thriller at the Essity Stadium, the 17-year-old Williams put the hosts ahead on 35 minutes and Rosie Hughes, also aged 17, soon made it two.
Grace Mpuku pulled a goal back for Llanystumdwy from the penalty spot close to half time.
Mpuku made it two-apiece two minutes into the second stanza, but Williams restored the home lead on 55.
Charlotte Walters provided the assist for Williams to complete her treble on 72 minutes.
Mpuku pocketed her third of the game after 75, but the Silkwomen held on for the victory.
Six-goal NFA strengthened their grip on second spot but still trail leaders Bangor 1876 by 18 points – albeit the Rhyl side have four games in hand on the table-toppers.
Goals from Sade Benjamin and Zoe Stopford on 34 and 39 minutes respectively put the light blues into a 2-0 midway advantage.
Megan Pursell missed a penalty for the hosts early in the second half, but Ruby McGilloway, Stella Windsor and Amy Webster all scored within a four-minute spell to push NFA out of sight.
Benjamin struck again late on with her 20th goal of the campaign.
Two late goals clinched Pwllheli the three points which edged them into fourth spot.
The deadlock was not broken at Lon Isallt until the 77th minute when Sioned Jones found the net via a free kick from the left.
Top-scorer Lois Thomas made sure of an away triumph with her 10th goal of the season three minutes into overtime.
