FRIDAY NIGHT REPORTS – JANUARY 20, 2023

ARDAL NORTH WEST

Denbigh Town 8 CPD Y Felinheli 0

Matthew Worrall looks capable of becoming a real asset to Denbigh Town’s potential title challenge this season.

Worrall, who recently rejoined Town from Llay Welfare, netted three times in Dewi Llion Jones’ team’s eight-goal hammering of Y Felinheli at Central Park tonight.

The win pushed Denbigh up to fourth place in Ardal North West, with games in hand on all the sides above.

The hosts went one-up after just four minutes, Nathan Brown’s shot parried by Guto Hughes only for Worrall to snap up the rebound.

Three minutes later Jason Foulkes doubled the lead with a beautiful curling shot over the keeper from 20 yards.

Brown struck the post before the interval arrived with a 2-0 scoreline.

Two minutes into the second half, Worrall showed some nifty footwork before driving home goal number three.

Soon after Dan Parry-Jones smashed an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net and before the hour another wonder finish from Worrall brought him his hat-trick.

Worrall was replaced by Harvey Bennett, who made it six when he found the net after a Ben Lockley shot came back off the keeper.

Lockley’s in off the post header brought up the magnificent seven before a tremendous finish from Craig Pritchard completed the rout.

CYMRU NORTH

Colwyn Bay 5 Buckley Town 2

Steve Evans’ Bay side stretched their lead at the summit to 11 points as they made it 18 games unbeaten with a convincing success over Buckley.

After a highly competitive goalless first half-hour, the Seagulls took the lead when Craig Lindfield scored at the second attempt.

Town equalised six minutes later when Josh Allen forced the ball in after a free kick into the Colwyn box was not dealt with by the hosts.

All-square at the interval, but seconds after the restart Bay substitute Matty Hill raced down the right, turned a defender and slotted into the bottom corner.

Tom McCready and Kristian Platt then netted in quick succession to put the Seagulls totally in command at 4-1.

Bay pressured for more and it was against the run of play when Asa Hamilton got one back for Bucks on 75 minutes.

The hosts deservedly had the last word when Hill notched his second.

Holyhead Hotspur 1 Porthmadog 2

Three vital points for Port over a Hotspur side now without a league win in 13 attempts.

Both sides had chances in the blank first half, respective goalkeepers Adam Martin and Morgan Jones performing well, while the visitors also hit the post.

Port made the breakthrough on 63 minutes when a Gerwyn Williams effort found the net.

Marcus Banks made it 2-0 after 73 and although Cory Williams pulled one back for Holyhead on 79, it was Craig Papirnyk’s men who took the spoils.
