Guess who is back at Chirk AAA for a third time?

North Wales football Action Shot of the Century? BRIAN PRYDDEN captured Nicky Williams’ wonder goal for Chirk Town which sent his current club Chirk AAA crashing to a 2-1 defeat in January 2022.

This top-class striker has to rank as a legend in Wrexham area football by now.

Nicky Williams is about to have his first experience of tier 2 football as he joins Chirk AAA for a third time.

The 32-year-old goal machine first truly made his mark back in 2011-12 when he was top scorer for an FC Cefn side which won the Welsh National League Premier Division title.

Next came a move to Acrefair in 2012-13 before joining then reigning Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) Premier champions Chirk AAA the following season.

He helped Chirk reach the 2013-14 FAW Trophy Final, where the Colliers lost 3-2 to Llanrug United.

The 2014-15 season brought an exciting new chapter for Nicky when he put pen to paper for newly-formed Cefn Albion.

The team won four trophies, including the North East Wales League title, and Williams amassed 59 goals in all competitions.

More success followed in 2015-16 as Williams was in the Albion squad which scooped the WNL Division One title at the first attempt.

Williams returned to Chirk AAA in 2016-17 and enjoyed more glory as the WNL Premier outfit beat Penlan Club 2-1 in the FAW Trophy Final.

In 2017-18, Williams joined new side Plas Madoc, bagging in excess of 50 goals as the Wrexham team were crowned North East Wales League champions. He scored TEN goals in one match.

Just like he had done previously with Cefn, Williams made it back-to-back titles with Plas as they finished top of WNL Division One in 2018-19.

He remained with Madoc during the curtailed 2019-20 season before the club disbanded.

In 2020-21, he faced another challenge with FC Queen’s Park, but the campaign never got started due to Covid-19.

The 2021/22 saw Nicky join Chirk Town of the North East Wales Premier. He scored a stunner in a famous 2-1 North East Wales FA Challenge Cup tie at Chirk AAA, but got sent off in the same game and only played one more match for the club before it unfortunately disbanded in February 2022.He had banged in 34 goals in just 20 outings for the Taverners.

Nicky played a handful of games for Penycae this season before committing Cymru North club Chirk AAA for a third time.

The Colliers could certainly do with a few goals from their new striker in the weeks ahead as the club battles to avoid a relegation fight.
