Llandudno handed toughest possible route to FAW Women’s Welsh Cup final

If Llandudno are to reach the 2022-23 FAW Women’s Cup final they will certainly have to do it the hard way.

Provided they can get past mighty Cardiff Met in this Sunday’s rescheduled quarter-final in the Welsh capital, the Genero Adran North champions must then face Cardiff City FC Women in the semis in February.

In contrast, Wrexham have landed a much more reasonable route to the final.

This Sunday, Steve Dale’s Genero Adran North current leaders face Aberystwyth Town at home and if successful will clash with tier 2 Adran South table-toppers Briton Ferry Llansawel in the last four.

The semis will be played at neutral grounds to be confirmed.

Sunday’s quarter-finals involving North Wales teams were both postponed due to frozen pitches.

Cardiff Met sensibly cancelled their meeting with Llandudno the day before because of the icy weather forecast and the potential difficulties posed to the North Wales club in travelling the long distance to the capital on treacherous roads.

However, Aberystwyth got the postponement call from Wrexham on the day of the game with several of the visiting party complaining on social media that they were well en route to their destination before receiving the cancellation notice.

A couple of men’s matches in the Cymru Premier caused similar inconvenience to Airbus UK Broughton and Bala Town on Saturday, both travelling the full distance to South Wales only for their games to be cancelled at a late stage.

The matter was due to be discussed by the FAW with Cymru Premier clubs on Monday night.
