Nomads lost their 100% record and slipped five points behind leaders Wrexham with a game in hand after being held at home by champions Llandudno.
The hosts took a 12th minute lead when Kirstie Kural swung a deep corner towards Ella Harvey, who headed in from close range.
Shannon Hobbs and Kylie Jones also had efforts on goal in a first half which saw Tudno keeper Caitlyn Bibby in fine form.
Meg Robinson, between the sticks for Quay, also had to produce a couple of great stops.
After a good chat in the away dressing room at half time, Llandudno changed formation for the first 10 minutes following the restart and began to create many more chances.
Sarah Colville’s side started to get on top through some smart play, with nice one-two balls produced by Jasmin Dutton, Becky Jarvis-Evans, Ffion Owen and Mari Gibbard.
Connah’s Quay had three chances in quick succession, but Llandudno kept pressing with Shona Roberts lofting over the top to Maddie Williams, who headed down for Gibbard to lash just over the bar.
Owen and Gibbard then combined to find Indie Hassall, whose shot was well saved..
In the 73rd minute Llandudno made it 1-1. Dutton played a lovely ball down the left to Hassall, who fed inside to Maddie Williams, and she beat a defender and applied a cracking finish.
Both teams fought for everything from then onwards, but it ended 1-1.
Leaders Wrexham needed two goals in the last 10 minutes from Rosie Hughes to clinch three points against a stubborn Airbus outfit who made life hard for them.
Still without a point this season after four straight defeats, the Wingmakers certainly showed more promise in this test against a visiting team now five points clear at the summit after five straight wins.
The first half saw Wrexham dominate possession but produce no goals, Steve Dale’s side missing two great chances.
The reds got nearer after the restart, Rebecca Pritchard’s effort blasting against the bar on 62 minutes.
Finally, in the 80th minute, the deadlock was broken when Amber Lightfoot set up Hughes to score.
And four minutes into added time Hughes’ marvellous volley from an Ava Suckley assist clinched the points. It was Hughes’ 23rd goal of the season.
Seven days earlier WREXHAM beat CPD Y RHYL 1879 7-0 with goals from Ava Suckley (2), Sophie Hodson, Amber Lightfoot, Libby McKenzie and Lauryn Lyons (2).
All-square at Cae Seilo with Llanfair claiming a first point of the season.
Fflur Williams put Felin ahead in the 10th minute, but Harriet Davies made it all-square on the quarter-hour.
Striker Fflur Williams struck again on 33 minutes to give the hosts a 2-1 half time lead.
The second half was scoreless until Davies notched an 80th minute leveller for the visitors.
