Happy birthday Georgia Williams – a true stalwart of Kinmel Bay Football Club.
Born on December 5, 1996, teacher Georgia is 26 today.
She started playing football at around four years of age, encouraged by her dad Ken, a former player and manager, and currently a long-serving member of the management team at Kinmel Bay FC.
Ken is ‘Mr Popular’ at Kinmel Bay, respected throughout the club and beyond for the work he does. Georgia has the same reputation.
Loyalty can be a rare thing in local football, but Georgia has been a Kinmel Bay player since the club formed in 2002.
She was part of the Bay squad which won the North Wales League title in 2012-13 and has been successful in numerous tournaments over the years.
Kinmel have not played in a competitive league since 2017-18, but the women’s squad is currently rebuilding at recreational football level.
Results have been excellent and there is definitely a chance of them applying for and joining the North Wales League next season.
It would be right and fitting if this were the case as Kinmel Bay are one of the pioneers of women’s football in Wales.
Usually a right-winger, Georgia can also play effectively in defence. She is renowned for her non-stop running and effort.
Georgia’s boyfriend of seven years is Liam Jones, a defender with the Kinmel Bay men’s team.
So when it comes to this popular young woman’s family and social circle, football is never far away.
A friend of Grassroots North Wales for many years, we wish Georgia a fantastic birthday.
