DIVISION ONE REPORTS AND TABLE

Betws y Coed 0 Llandudno Amateurs 10

While delighted with his team’s emphatic win, Llandudno Amateurs joint-manager Carl Nichols was keen to acknowledge the commitment of beaten opponents Betws-y-Coed.

Bottom of the table, Betws’ struggle in getting together a squad this season would have finished many clubs, but the Conwy Valley outfit keep battling to continue operating in the North Wales Coast East League.

“Total respect for Betws,” said Nichols. “Sending a young side out every week, getting beat, but If they could keep that going the future will be better for them. They never give up. Huge respect to the management, players and committee.”

On the Amateurs’ display, Nichols added: “Not our greatest performance by a long way but we got the job done, three points the is main thing. 10 goals and a clean sheet is a bonus.”

The on-fire Joe Jones netted four, Azz Rogers added a treble, Ant Tidswell, Sean Sharp and Harry Montgomery one apiece.

Abergele 6 Llysfaen 0

Abergele have a 10-point lead at the Division One pinnacle after stretching their unbeaten record to 10 matches on Saturday afternoon.

While the margin of victory over Llysfaen was pretty emphatic, full marks to Emlyn Robert Jones’ young visiting side for putting so much into the contest.

Gele took a 15th minute lead when Jack Hoult was fouled in the box and Greg Hilditch netted from the spot.

A spirited Llysfaen side battled well and the hosts were lucky to be ahead at the break.

Sam Ashton and Brian Wilson were introduced early in the second half and proved instrumental in Gele’s success.

Wilson volleyed home for his first Abergele goal and opened the floodgates.

Ricci Thomas, with some clever work in the box, found space and finished with his left foot.

It was 4-0 when a neat header back across goal was converted by Tommy Lloyd at the near post.

Abergele were on the front foot and pressed for more goals. A well-taken corner from Ben Pamment saw Hoult get on the score sheet.

Lloyd finished the scoring with a tap in, his second goal of the day.

CPD Y Glannau 2 Rhos United 4

Man of the match Lewis Sealey proved again what an outstanding prospect he is with a two-goal salvo for a Rhos outfit which inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Y Glannau.

Rhos started the better, Sealey going close with a volley over the bar.

And the visitors took a deserved lead after 25 minutes when Sealey headed home from a set-piece.

Y Glannau finally awoke from their slumber and Chris McQuillen controversially had a goal ruled out for offside before the same player equalised with a magnificent overhead kick after Joey Fontana flicked on a Tawse Cox throw.

Sealey was denied by a fine Brad Wright stop before Aaron Dodwell was played in by Ged Burke, but Gavin Lewis did well to keep out the midfielder’s effort.

Rhos went in at the break 3-1 up after scoring twice from corners via Sealey and Chris King, whose shot deflected in off Tom Jones, wrong-footing keeper Wright.

Y Glannau turned up the pressure in the second half, but Alec Jones and Richard Beardmore were outstanding at the back for the visitors.

Rhos made sure of the points 15 minutes from time when Scott Court finished well on the break.

In the closing minutes, Fontana won a penalty for Y Glannau which Harrison Bellis converted for his 31st goal of the season.

Penrhyn Bay Dragons 3 CPD Henllan 0

What a display from a Dragons team which celebrated its first league win of the season.

A great performance in the first half saw the hosts go two-up, both goals from Sol Dickens, with one a stunner.

Within the first five minutes of the second half Stan Farrell added a third.

Dragons keeper Ashley Black saved a penalty before being red-carded on 74 minutes.

Farrell went between the posts and kept out another spot-kick before producing an amazing double stop from a free kick. Corey Roberts then produced a goal-line clearance.

After the match, a Penrhyn Bay spokesman said: “We needed a win and a clean sheet and every lad on that pitch gave 100% to ensure that happened.”

Rhyl All Stars 1 Rhyl Dragons 2

Derby success for the Dragons with Dean Hughes producing the second-half decider.

Joe Smith gave All Stars the lead with a 36th minute penalty, but Lewis Evans made it 1-1 before half time.

The winner from Hughes came on 64 minutes.
