JD CYMRU NORTH MATCH REPORTS – NOVEMBER 19

Buckley Town 3 Porthmadog 1

Buckley made it four wins on the bounce and edged up to fifth place in the Cymru North after seeing off Porthmadog at Globe Way.

The home side took just five minutes to take the lead when the assistant-referee decided Danny Burgess’ header from an Asa Hamilton delivery had crossed the line.

Keeper Morgan Jones kept the visitors in the game up to half time through a series of fine saves.

Josh Jones went close for the hosts early in the second half before on 55 minutes Hamilton put through Jake Roberts to slot past the keeper.

It was 3-0 after 66 minutes when Port defender Nathan Williams could only find his own net when trying to deal with a cross.

Porthmadog did pull one back after 72 minutes Jamie McDaid pass enabled Meilir Williams to score from an angle, but that was the end of the goals.

Buckley manager Dan Moore said: “While we’re delighted with the result, we’re disappointed with the goal we conceded which gave them a lift for five or 10 minutes. We probably should have scored more, but I think we were deserved winners.”

Llandudno 0 Ruthin Town 1

A fantastic strike from Josh Jones five minutes in was enough for Ruthin to halt Llandudno’s run of five straight league wins.

With Maesdu Park 3G unfit for use, the game was switched to Nantporth Stadium in Bangor, and it was dark horses Ruthin who upset the odds.

Tudno had their attacking moments, but were unable to get past young visiting goalkeeper Daniel Goldston.

The hosts finished the game with 10 men after Mason Blackwell-Jones was shown a second yellow card on 82 minutes.

Cefn Druids 2 Mold Alexandra 1

This ended up a tale of two penalties – one which Mold missed at a crucial stage and another that Druids converted to win the match.

Cefn had the better of the first half and went in one-up thanks to a Callum Stephens tap-in on 30 minutes.

Mold were far more lively in the second half and on 53 minutes Steve Watkins headed them level from a Darren Warren corner.

Alex won a penalty in the 58th minute for a foul on Ellis Hickey, but Warren’s kick was saved by Michael Jones.

Warren was out of luck again when he found the net, but was ruled offside.

The visitors were piling on the pressure, but failed to take their chances and paid the price when Druids earned a 76th minute spot-kick which Adam Stephens put away to seal the win.

Conwy Borough 1 Chirk AAA 1

All-square at Y Morfa with Rhys Edwards striking first for Chirk on 54 minutes from the penalty spot before John Littlemore equalised after 70.

The visitors had Ryan Davies dismissed on 40 minutes for a second yellow card.

Guilsfield 4 Penrhyncoch 1

Goals from Jamie Hyne (2), Callum Bromley and Iwan Matthews secured a home victory, Penrhyn having struck first through Daniel Owen.

Llanidloes Town 2 Gresford Athletic 2

Three games without defeat for a Gresford side which picked up a handy point at Victoria Park.

In a lively start, Athletic took an early lead when George Macready put away the opener in the sixth minute.

Llanidloes levelled just three minutes later when Andrew Evans headed home.

It was not long before Gresford restored their lead, with Ellis Turner notching his first for the club in the 10th minute.

Sam Spridgeon went close to making it 3-1, but his shot clipped the crossbar.

The second half started slower than the first, Gresford with the first real chance in the 58th minute, Turner denied when the hosts cleared his shot off the line.

In the 67th minute, the Daffs managed to find an equaliser for a second time, Connor Bird scoring to make it 2-2.

Turner almost won it when his late shot missed by a fraction.
