Llangefni Town won by a higher score than 10-0 much more recently than we thought – but it was in a cup tie

Llangefni Town have recorded a win bigger than 10-0 much more recently than we thought – although it was in a cup competition.

Last weekend saw Cefni celebrate their heaviest league victory since at least 2004-05 when they beat fellow islanders Bodedern Athletic 10-0 at Cae Bob Parry in a tier 3 Ardal North West tussle.

However, it was only four years and nine months ago that Town rattled up an 11-0 triumph at home to Meliden in the Mawddach Challenge Cup.

Llangefni were riding high in Welsh Alliance Division One at the time, while their Prestatyn-area visitors occupied a mid-table spot in Division Two.

Nonetheless, the game was expected to end up much closer than it actually did.

Goalscorers for the all-blues were: Craig Roberts (3), Kai Roberts, Iwan Jones (2), Jack Williams, Osian Jones, Harry Galeotti (2) and James Saxon.

February 3, 2018, was the date of the match, which saw the scoring begin after just two minutes when Kai Roberts found the net.

This was swiftly followed by a Iwan Jones effort on 11 minutes, then Craig Roberts also struck on 28

Three-nil at half time, but the floodgates opened after the break.

Iwan Jones bagged his second, then Jack Williams and Osian Jones increased the advantage further to 6-0.

Harry Galeotti and James Saxon were next to register for Chris Roberts’ side.

Craig Roberts added quick-fire goals on 81 and 84 to complete his hat-trick in fine style.

Galeotti doubled his tally on 83 minutes to round off a dominant show from Cefni.
