How are our female Dynamic Dozen for 2022-23 performing? Pretty well so far!

It has been more than six weeks since we chose 12 players to watch in the Adran North and North Wales Women’s leagues for the 2022-23 season.

Let’s see how they are getting on.

Ellie Sian Jones (Amlwch Town)

Eighteen-year-old Ellie is top scorer for Amlwch, her four goals coming in her opening two matches.

Things have been tough for Town in recent weeks with player shortages and injuries, plus some very difficult matches.

They will need players like Ellie to see them through this mini-crisis. She’s a fantastic young talent.

Erin Doran (Llandudno)

Erin Doran is one of Llandudno’s brightest young stars

This 16-year-old midfield prospect has featured in seven games for Llandudno so far, all as a substitute.

Time is on her side and she has already shown glimpses of being a great addition to Sarah Colville’s squad with her steady and patient passing game.

Ava Suckley (Wrexham AFC Women)

Wrexham have signed a winner – no doubt about that.

A former Wales Under-17 international and Stoke City prospect, Ava joined the Dragons in the summer and already has five first-team goals to her credit, as well as eight for the under-19 development side.

The 18-year-old netted twice on her debut for the senior team in a 6-0 win at Llanfair and delivered a double in a notable 5-2 victory against champions Llandudno.

Elana Harley (Connah’s Quay Nomads)

One of a number of new young players to impress for Genero Adran North leaders Nomads so far this term.

Aged just 17, Elena has bagged eight goals for the under-19 development team and caught the eye in her appearances for the firsts, having scored twice in a 6-2 Welsh Cup win against Llanfair.

Steph Farley (Denbigh Town – now CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Steph started the season brilliantly on her return to Denbigh, scoring in her first two games before deciding to rejoin CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in the higher standard Genero Adran North.

The 28-year-old defender was a key member of the 1879 side which won the North Wales League as invincibles last season.

It has been a tough start for Rhyl at tier 2 and they will need Steph’s experience to help guide them to better times.

Lauren (Loz) Jones (CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Although she conceded eight in her Genero Adran North debut at Llandudno, Loz was named Player of the Match for the opposition, such was her outstanding and brave display.

She has gone on to produce other fine performances between the sticks, but now faces competition for the No 1 jersey in the shape of new signing Bethan Thomas.

Whenever Loz performs, she can be relied upon to give it absolutely everything and show herself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the North Wales game.

Hana Wellings (Llanystumdwy)

Action has been thin on the ground for Llanystumdwy so far, with captain Hana making just three appearances to date.

Nonetheless, she managed to grab herself a couple of goals in a defeat to Pwllheli and in the coming months the skipper will be a crucial player for Tash Matthews’ side.

Zoe Stopford (NFA)

Zoe is a truly class player who can operate in midfield or up front and already she has shone brightly in NFA colours.

She scored twice on her debut and was Player of the Match when NFA comfortably beat Caernarfon at the start of the season.

Zoe has Welsh Premier League experience and played a major role in Holywell’s improvement last season. Undoubtedly has a big part to play in NFA’s title quest.

Ellie Coulson (Llangefni Town)

What a good choice by us!

Yes, why not give ourselves a pat on the back. I saw Ellie’s potential as a striker last season and since the start of the current campaign she has really delivered.

As well as netting her first hat-trick for Llangefni, she is also top-scorer for the team with six goals and her up-front partnership with Jen Cox has produced a combined 11 goals.

Jenna Allsup (CPDM Bangor 1876)

Had a brief chat with Jenna last week and she said she is revelling in her more attacking role with new club Bangor 1876.

And it shows, as the outstanding defender of seasons past has struck four goals this season from her more advanced position for an 1876 side which has roared to the top of the North Wales Women’s League.

Jordan Roberts (CPDM Y Felinheli)

Last season’s leading markswoman for CPDM Bangor 1876 has stepped up a level to tier 2 this season and has netted twice so far for new team CPDM Y Felinheli.

A gifted young player, her best moment to date was scoring twice in her team’s 4-3 win over CPD Y Rhyl 1879 – their first success of the campaign. She netted with a magnificent free kick and then via a great individual effort from an angle to win the match.

Georgia Spibey (Airbus)

Georgia has provided Airbus with their season’s highlight so far – scoring a hat-trick in their 3-2 Adran Trophy victory over Y Felinheli on October 30.

They were The Mighty Spibey’s first goals for the Wingmakers, but surely will not be the last.

A tremendous performer in her debut season in North Wales senior football for NFA in 2021-22, she is more than capable of becoming a regular stand-out operator in tier 2 Adran North.
