Two great strikes from Zac Davies ensured Penycae produced the result of the weekend in Ardal North East as they ended leaders Llanfair’s seven-match perfect record.
Saturday’s clash at Afoneitha Road saw the hosts take a 15th minute lead when a corner was cleared as far as Davies, who hit his first attempt into the ground, but the ball sat nicely for him to drill home a low volley beyond keeper Lee Andrew.
The second goal from Davies on 35 minutes was quite astonishing as from not far inside the Llanfair half, he let fly and the ball flew into the net.
And it was 3-0 by half time after Drew Wickens headed in a corner at the back post.
Richard Davies grabbed a close range consolation for the visitors on 65 minutes, but this was very much Penycae’s day.
All-square at Cae Piod, Kien Morris scoring first for Albion on four minutes before Tomos Roberts made it one-apiece after 40.
Things looked difficult for the Cefners when goalkeeper Josh Roberts was shown a red card on 61 minutes.
Sion Ewart put Bow 2-1 ahead after 69, but the visitors refused to be beaten, Callum Mannion levelling with 78 on the clock.
And 2-2 was how it finished, Bow coach Llyr Hughes being shown a red in added time.
A hat-trick from midfielder Glynn Coney, plus further goals from Scott Williams and Luke Evans helped the blues to their fifth league win on the bounce.
A Scott Williams own goal, three minutes after he has scored in the right net, provided Dolgellau’s consolation.
The visitors had Jake Jones sent off for a second yellow card on the hour.
All seven goals were scored in the first half by a rampant Llandrindod.
Danny Hall’s hat-trick, plus two apiece from Tom Durant and Jack Evans sealed an emphatic away triumph.
Goals from Jake Hayward and Benjamin Wilson, who also missed a late penalty, clinched the honours for Llangollen.
Joseph Evans replied from the spot on 73 minutes for Llanrhaeadr, who by that stage trailed 2-0.
Ian Hughes’ first-minute strike was enough to bank third-place Rhos all three points at home to Llanuwchllyn.
Luke Thomas, Thomas Halliday and substitute Owain Richards all found the target for Welshpool in a convincing home win.
