Prestatyn Town’s resurgence continues at the expense of Ruthin

JD CYMRU NORTH – OCTOBER 21, 2022
Prestatyn Town 3 (Hilditch 23, Pearson 59, Atkins 69)
Ruthin Town 1 (Mbolokele 73)
It is now five home games without defeat for an impressive Prestatyn outfit which rose to fourth in the Cymru North with Friday’s success over Ruthin.
Kurtis Pearson posed an early threat for the visitors, prompting a save from Daniel Goldston.
Sean Coulton then produced some fine defending at the other end to deny Ruthin a big opportunity.
The Seasiders were shaping up the better and took a deserved lead on 25 minutes.
A ball over the away defence released Tom Hilditch, whose shot found the net with the aid of a possible deflection.
Josh Cooke came up with a quality stop in the home goal before opposite number Goldston made a magnificent save to thwart Dan Atkins.
Prestatyn certainly needed a second goal for comfort and it came with 59 minutes played.
Pearson concocted a dynamic run before his strike found the net off a defender to make it 2-0.
It was all Prestatyn now and Atkins, who had got in behind the away defence on numerous occasions, did so again to add the third goal.
Vita Mbolokele pulled one back on 73 minutes, but that was as good as it got for Ruthin, a great attempt from the hosts Tom Aylmer which rattled the post almost making it 4-1 soon after.
Cooke produced a superb close range save in the closing stages to keep it a two-goal game.
