Stunning comeback victory by Llanfairfechan, Denbigh Town stay top as triplets all score

What a comeback! Llanfairfechan Town produced a magnificent performance to win 3-2

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL REPORTS – OCTOBER 16

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE

Llanystumdwy 2 Llanfairfechan Town 3

What a comeback from league newcomers Llanfairfechan!

Two goals down, the visitors scored three times in the last 10 minutes to claim a tremendous three points.

Llanystumdwy looked well on the way to victory after Ellie Williams gave them a 10th minute lead and then added a second goal on 77.

However, the hosts, who had just the bare 11, appeared to tire and Elin Jones struck twice in three minutes to make it all-square, Jess Roberts and joint-manager Sadie Richards with the assists.

Then in the 85th minute, Richards was again the provider as Morgan Jackson put away the winner.

The result lifts Llanfairfechan up to fifth in the table.

CPDM Bangor 1876 9 Flint Town United 0

Mia Roberts led the way with a hat-trick as 1876 maintained their 100 percent start to the season.

Australian newcomer Stevie Donougher netted twice for the hosts, while Awel Ellis, Jenna Allsup, Cara Aston and Danielle Barnfield added one goal apiece.

Donougher, who is studying for a masters degree at Bangor University, has competed in her country’s national triple jump championship and is also showing a lot of promise in training with her North Wales uni’s rugby union team.

Caernarfon Town 1 Denbigh Town 6

From left: Lucy, Emily and Charlotte Morris

Triplet sisters Emily, Lucy and Charlotte Morris all appeared on the scoresheet as league leaders Denbigh made it five wins in six outings at the expense of Caernarfon.

It was the first time the trio had all scored in the same match since they played together for Kinmel Bay Under-14’s.

Defender Emily set the ball rolling when she volleyed home from a corner.

Lucy made it 2-0 on 36 minutes and two quick goals before half time from Lois Roberts put the visitors in complete control before the interval.

After the break, Charlotte made it a full set of Morris sisters goals and Amber Hellon also struck.

Caernarfon never stopped battling and their popular captain Sara Williams pulled a goal back before the end.

CPD Pwllheli 1 Amlwch Town 0

Magi Hughes scored the only goal to stretch Pwllheli’s winning run to five matches, but they were made to work really hard by an Amlwch side down to the bare bones player-wise.

The visitors from Anglesey were down to nine players by the end due to injuries, yet never stopped pushing for an equaliser with Ellie Sian Jones going desperately close late on.

Skipper Hughes broke the deadlock on 24 minutes when she received the ball from top-scorer Lois Thomas, who passed it through two defenders. Hughes was able to round keeper Ceri Pritchard and score.

Trearddur Bay 0 NFA 6

Four straight league wins for NFA with goal supplied by Emily Jones, Stella Windsor, Ruby McGilloway, Sade Benjamin, Jess Mills and Ashleigh Mills.

GENERO ADRAN TROPHY NORTH 1

Llangefni Town 1 Llanfair United 4

Jen Cox delivered a dream start for Llangefni when she scored in the opening couple of minutes from an Ellie Coulson assist.

It certainly was not in the script that Cefni should trouble a Llanfair side currently in the tier 2 Adran North and formerly North Wales League champions, yet the Powys visitors were given a real battle.

Sarah Ellis equalised on 17 minutes, but at half time the underdogs were doing a fantastic job keeping it at 1-1.

It took a second-half hat-trick from Llanfair women’s all-time leading scorer, Gemma Jones, to clinch the tie.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1 Wrexham 2

Lili Jones converted an added time penalty to seal Wrexham a hard-earned three group points.

Amber Lightfoot handed the visitors a half-time lead, but Rhyl levelled in the 84th minute when a Rachael Thomas free kick went in off the bar.

A point would have been well-deserved for 1879, but in injury time skipper Thomas was adjudged to have fouled in the box and Jones lashed the spot-kick high into the net.

Connah’s Quay Nomads 1 Llandudno 0

Kirstie Kural’s ninth goal of the season just two minutes in was enough to book Nomads a narrow win over the Adran North champions.

Kural’s looping header from a corner settled a close-fought battle in which Tudno played a full part.
