CATCH-UP: JD Cymru North – Holywell make it six in a row, Porthmadog stun Llandudno

It is now six straight league wins for Holywell Town, who are up to second in the JD Cymru North table.
After taking just a single point from their first three games, the Wellmen have picked up the maximum 18 from the last six.

Saturday’s game saw Johnny Haseldin’s side welcome next-to-bottom Penrhyncoch to the Achieve More Training Stadium.
After a strong start the hosts went close on 15 minutes.
A great run down the right by Damian Ketley saw him drive low from the byline, the ball hit Penrhyn’s Gavin Rowlands and ricocheted against the crossbar. The ball was cleared only as far as Kai Edwards but his shot went over the bar.
The breakthrough came on 18 minutes. Jake Cooke’s low centre from the right beat everyone except Zebb Edwards, who was there to tap the ball home.
Moments later, a snapshot by Dave Forbes saw Lewis James having to save well to prevent Town increasing their lead.
Danny Sullivan went close twice before the break and Cooke forced James into a great save at his near post.
Town’s second goal arrived on 53 minutes. An inch-perfect cross by Ilan ap Gareth found Sullivan, who headed into the back of the net.
The Wellmen then won a penalty, but Zebb Edwards’ fierce spot-kick rattled the post. Forbes fired in the rebound the referee disallowed it for an infringement.
Forbes netted again but this time was ruled offside, then James’ brilliance denied Kai Edwards, sub Morgan Murray and Cooke.
Murray made a great run into the box late on, but once again James foiled him.

Colwyn Bay 2 Prestatyn Town 1
Bay remain top and unbeaten but received a real scare from a much-improved Prestatyn at Llanelian Road.
A late penalty from top scorer James Kirby rescued a 2-1 victory for the Seagulls.
Steve Evans’ team led 1-0 at half-time with a stunning 25-yard rocket from Lewis Sirrell, but the scorer, Kirby and Tom McCready all missed chances to extend the scoreline.
After making a number of substitutions in the second half, Kirby had a shot cleared off the line and Ryan Edwards shot over.
Prestatyn capitalised on all those missed opportunities by snatching an equaliser on 66 minutes through Danny Atkins.
It looked like a draw was on the cards until the Bay were awarded an 84th minute penalty for a foul on Jamie Cumming and Kirby scored his eighth goal of the campaign from the spot to put his side back in front.
Prestatyn were unlucky not to equalise for a second time when Atkins rattled the bar in the closing stages.
Buckley Town 0 Guilsfield 1
Ben Woollam’s eighth-minute goal proved enough to secure three points for a Guilsfield outfit forced to play with 10 men for an hour following a red card for Callum Bromley.
Cefn Druids 3 Llanidloes Town 2
Nick Grogan and Josh Roseberry-Beamond (2, 1 pen) clinched the honours for Druids, Jamie Breese and Andrew Evans responding for the visitors.
Roseberry-Beamond supplied the 74th minute winner for the Ancients.
Gresford Athletic 0 Conwy Borough 1
Conwy’s revival continued as Macsen Rhys-Williams net-finder in first half injury time booked a maximum return at Clappers Lane at the expense of bottom side Gresford.
Holyhead Hotspur 2 Mold Alexandra 2
Dylan Summers-Jones bagged a 92nd minute equaliser to salvage a point for hosts Hotspur.
Mold led 2-0 through a Danny Warren double either side of half time, the first goal a penalty, before Luke Roberts pulled one back on 53 minutes.
Llandudno 0 Porthmadog 1
Rhys Alun Williams’ 47th minute goal earned Porthmadog an outstanding victory at the OPS Wind Arena.
Sam Jones came closest for Tudno in the first half when he hit the inside of the post, while at the other end Shaun Pearson did well to keep out a fierce Meilir Williams strike.
Two minutes into the second half, Port achieved their breakthrough.
After fine work by Alex Boss on the right flank, the ball found Meilir Williams on the by-line and his low cross picked out Rhys Alun in space.
The striker’s initial effort was blocked by the keeper but he made no mistake with the rebound to open the scoring to the delight of the travelling supporters.
The rest of the half was end-to-end, Port defending bravely and magnificently with keeper Morgan Jones making one superb save, but also posing the occasional threat in attack, Cian Williams bringing the best out of Pearson late on.
Ruthin Town 3 Chirk AAA 2
Two tremendous free kicks from defender Tom Dyer were the highlights of Friday’s close battle at the Memorial Fields.
Llyr Morris lashed in left-footed on six minutes after Dyer’s header from a free kick came back off the post.
Dyer then blasted home a free kick from at least 25 yards via a central position on 11 minutes.
Chirk hit back in the 13th minute when Jack Orbell touched on a cross from the left and Rhys Edwards showed real sharpness to finish for his fifth goal in eight games.
In first half added time it was that man Dyer again, placing his free kick to perfection into the net from 20 yards out.
Ryan Williams’ left-footed free kick found the net on 62 minutes to make it 3-2 and Chirk fought hard for an equaliser, but Ruthin held on for the points.
