DIVISION ONE

Llanfairpwll 7 CPD Gaerwen 1

Jay Finter’s hat-trick was the main feature of a strong performance which moved this young Llanfairpwll side up to second in Division One.

Now unbeaten in six league matches, Gwyndaf Hughes’ team actually had to recover from going a goal down at Maes Eilian before taking control.

Geraint Siddall broke the deadlock on 20 minutes for Gaerwen, who were seeking their second three points of the season.

Finter equalised on 37 minutes and 18-year-old hot prospect Cian Owen made it 2-1 to the hosts in first-half injury time.

When Rees Roberts put Llanfair 3-1 up early in the second half, the contest was all but over, and this was certainly the case when Finter completed his treble with goals after 55 and 62 minutes.

Man of the match Cian Owen put away his second before in the 87th minute, 16-year-old substitute Tom Mummery – owner of a very famous surname in Llanfairpwll – made it 7-1.

Bontnewydd 4 Caergybi 4

Bontnewydd rallied from 4-1 down to take a point at Cae Stanley.

Caergybi looked well in command after a four-goal salvo from Louis Chapman, who struck on 12, 26, 52 and 54 minutes, put them three ahead, Ieuan Parry having responded for Bont after 29.

But the hosts were not done – Alex Kalafusz (63 minutes) and a Matthew Jones double (81 and 86) made it all-square.

Cemaes Bay 5 Holyhead Town 1

Tony Meyer handed Holyhead a surprise 12th minute lead before Cemaes roared back to win 5-1 and establish a six-point lead at the table peak.

Shane Pell equalised before Bay top marksman Matt Reynolds made it 2-1 on the half-hour,

Just past the hour, a Rickie Lavelle own goal added to the Harbourmen’s problems and further net-finders from Reynolds and Matty Roberts clinched another success for Cemaes, who are undefeated in eight.

Llanystumdwy 3 Bethesda Rovers 3

Last season’s struggling newcomers but now transformed Rovers fought back from 3-0 behind to earn a draw and maintain their undefeated record in 2022-23.

Darren Parry, Kyle Williams and Daniel Rhinds struck the goals which put Llan three to the good at half time.

The second half saw quite a turnaround, Bethesda scoring three goals in seven minutes.

Lewis Owen netted on 65 and 72 minutes and Ryan Jones after 68 to set up a thrilling finish.

But that was the end of the scoring.
